About the Blog:
This exemplifying blog explains that how lockdown had increased an individual's inactivity. Also, it tells about the ill effects of lack of physical activities on different body parts and mental health.
Adverse effects of inactivity during lockdown
During the COVID-19 Pandemic being physically active will be a challenge for all of us, but we must find and plan ways to be active and reduce our sedentary time. Although our movement around our neighborhood, town, city, country, and the world might be restricted, it remains critical that we all move more and sit less. Worldwide, extensive social distancing policies are put into place, limiting people's daily activities and worldwide pleas from governments asking people to stay safe and stay at home. This, of course, means that most people will spend much of their time at home. Most of the people who are doing their work from home were on mobile and laptop, and there some people are utilizing their time by playing games like PUBG and watching movies; because of this, people are inactivating themselves. Because of this, the most problems are cervical pain and back pain due to bad posture adaptation during the use of the mobile or laptop.
Muscle stiffness
When we do not move our muscles and body, especially the neck, for some time, these muscles need to be worked to keep their mobility and range of movement. Just 10 to 15 minutes of stretching and range of movement exercise a day can improve or maintain these muscle flexibility and mobility and reduce stiffness. One of the essential things is avoiding working and sitting or using mobiles and laptops in one place and one position, especially in cervical flexion, which is the leading cause of neck stiffness and pain in the neck area. If anyone finds their muscles stiff and painful, it is important to stretch them and keep them moving and regain the standard anatomical position.
Reduction of fitness level
Suppose anyone stops all of any exercise or physical exertion that will cause a reduction of fitness level. But, unfortunately, nowadays, all the fitness centers are closed due to the pandemic COVID-19, and most people have stayed at home. Therefore, most people are physically inactive due to a wrong or negative effect on their fitness level. Consequently, I think everyone should exercise at home to stay physically and mentally active.
Reduce Stress
Exercise and physical activity are one of the best ways to reduce stress and feeling of anxiety. Physical activity is a great way to boost the mood. During exercise, the body releases good endorphins into the system and promotes feeling good. Just because of exercise, people's minds will not get the chance to think those things that they should not believe, and people will feel good.
The benefit of physical activity
In light of the current situation worldwide, specific benefits of physical activity may be specifically pertinent to the COVID-19 Pandemic. These benefits are:-
- Physical activity enhances immune function and reduces inflammation; it could therefore reduce the severity of infections.
- Physical activity improves common chronic conditions that increase the risk for severe COVID-19 (i.e., Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes).
- Physical activity is a great stress management tool by reducing symptoms of anxietyand depression.
- Physical activity helps bring cortical levels in balance - Stress and distress (such as during a pandemic) create an imbalance in cortical levels, which negatively influences immune function and inflammation.
