04 Jan 2022
On December 28, 2021, an expert lecture on “Nano-enabled strategies to enhance crop growth & environment protection” was organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Rama University Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur. The guest speaker of the event was Dr. Muhammad Adeel was a distinguished Associate Professor, from Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai. He has expertise in the accumulation and toxicity of manufactured nano-objects (MNOs) in plants and soil organisms and their fate and disposition in the terrestrial environment. The further details of the event are mentioned below.
Event- Expert Lecture
Topic - “Nano-enabled strategies to enhance crop growth & environment protection.”
Date- December 28, 2021
Time- 10:30 – 11:45 AM
Guest Speaker - Dr. Muhammad Adeel
Organized By - Department of Biotechnology
Faculty of Engineering & Technology,
Rama University,
Kanpur
About the Event:
Dr. Muhammad Adeel enlightened the audience about nano-enabled agriculture and agro-chemicals. He worked on Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) infection, induced resistance in Nicotiana benthamiana, and gave deep insights on carbon-based nanomaterials to suppress viral symptoms. His research paper on the Bioavailability and toxicity of nanoscale/bulk rare earth oxides in soil was informative and helpful in understanding the use of nanotechnology in improving soil fertility.
He also discussed nutritional improvement, disease management on resistant pathogens, and effects of chemical pollution. He is currently collaborating with Green Innovation Laboratory and focusing on environmental distress using Nano ecotoxicology in today’s scenario. Dr. Adeel also encouraged students to pursue plant and environmental research by inviting the Department of Biotechnology and the research team of Rama University, to collaborate with his work.
Approximately 70 students from the Department of Biotechnology were benefited from this lecture. This lecture provided ample opportunities for students to discuss with the speaker.
The convener of this event was Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar, Head of, Department of Biotechnology and was coordinated by Dr. Dinesh Chand Agarwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology.
