World Radio Day Celebrated

World Radio Day is celebrated annually on February 13 to recognize radio as
a method for educating individuals, transporting data, providing
information and promoting the opportunity of freedom of expression across
global cultures.
As we all know Radio is a low-cost medium specifically suited to reach
remote communities and vulnerable people, offering a platform to intervene
in the public debate, irrespective of people’s educational level. So we
know how crucial role radio plays as a medium of mass communication amongst
us.
The main purpose of observing World Radio Day is to make the public and the
media aware of the importance of radio. It started in the year 2014 when
the whole world celebrated World radio day on 13th February 2014.
"Radio brings people together In an era of rapid media evolution". World
Radio Day is observed to recognize the contribution of the mass
communication medium in providing news and entertainment across all strata
of society.
With this given statement, the Department of Journalism & Mass
Communication also organized a program on World Radio Day. An open-mic
competition was being held in the department and contestants from all
different Departments participated in the competition. The Theme of the
competition was - "History & Literature".
The event had a beautiful start with some Shayari and welcoming quotes
presented by show host – Shubhangi Mishra & Prashasti Tiwari-students
of BJMC 1st year. The day-long celebration was kicked off, with
listeners and speakers.
All the 20 participants came clean and presented their beautifully written
masterpieces.
The Jury members – Dr.Santosh Kumar, Dean Faculty of Professional Studies,
Ms. Simran Pannu, Soft-skill Trainer, & Mr.Udyan from Agriculture
Department, gave the certificate of Appreciation to first 3 winners –Javed
Ansari (BJMC) won the first prize, Vitthal Shukla(BJMC) & Shubham
Kumar(FJS), they both stood second & Sachin Bajpai(Bsc. Agriculture)
hold the third position in the competition.
The event was successful with the help of all the faculty members of the
Department and coordinators who organized this event. In the coming days,
Department of Journalism & Mass Communication is going to host more
such events and hope for many more participants who could join us and help
to make it a day to remember.
