Educational Broadcasting in India

India is among the earliest countries in the world to have adopted broadcasting. Radio came to India experimentally in 1923 with the establishment of a ‘Radio Club’ first in Calcutta and subsequently in Bombay, Madras and elsewhere. However, it was not until 1927 that a regular broadcasting service was initiated by the Indian Broadcasting Company Limited, a private concern (Baruah, 1983).
