ABOUT CONFERENCE

Agriculture sector is the largest employer in the world. It not only provides the livelihood but also creates income and job options to the poor villagers. Technological interventions are very important to meet out the challenge of feeding the rapidly increasing population of the Nation. The lack of technological transformation has drastically reduced income earning opportunities in Indian Agriculture. A holistic and system-wide approach is required in the diagnosis of constraints and opportunities for productivity enhancement, employment generation, and poverty reduction.

By 2050, the world population is set to increase from six to nine billion. One-in-eight persons worldwide are chronically hungry. And of these, nearly 60 per cent are resource poor farmers with small land holdings. FAO estimates that food production must increase by at least 60 percent to respond to the demand of the 9 billion people that are expected to inhabit the planet by 2050. Global food security over the next decades will be essential. In meeting this challenge, there is an opportunity to create sustainable economic growth in rural areas of developing countries where food security and poverty are most prevalent. If we can help the farmers to increase food production it will help to ensure food security to a large part of the global population.

Agricultural development is hindered by climate change, which disproportionally affects agriculture and threatens the achievement of Sustainable Developmental Goals on food security and poverty. In order to achieve food security, increase productivity, alleviate poverty among rural communities, build resilience to climate change and other stresses, and reduce agricultural emissions, a complete transformation and technological intervention in agriculture is needed over the next decade, as it is not possible to achieve the goal with conventional techniques only.

The Conference aims to provide a platform for interaction among the students and scientific community for exchange of ideas in the field of Agriculture and Allied Sciences. In addition, this conference will help in expanding the knowledge of scientists, students, young research scholars and farmers in creating awareness relating to agricultural issues.
