Department of Journalism & Mass Communication is going to conduct a Short Term Course on Creative Writing for the Academic Session 2019-20 and is now accepting application for the same. Please refer the course details below for more clarity and information:
About the Course
Creative writing is a form of writing where creativity is at the forefront of its purpose through using imagination, creativity, and innovation in order to tell a story through strong written visuals with an emotional impact, like in poetry writing, short story writing, novel writing, and more.
Creative writing is one of those skills you can eternally get better at, but often stuck at when you start.
since literature is more competitive now than it ever has been, seeing the demand of creative writers in the market, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication is conducting a short term course on creative writing.
This course will provide one of the best ways to get better at creative writing and i.e., is to first learn and understand the craft of it and then challenge yourself by completing writing exercises but just that if you want to continue to push yourself in this industry, you’ll need some work, and we are here to help you for this.

Course Outcome:
- Creative writing encourages students to exercise their creative minds and practice using their imaginations. It improves their ability to come up with alternatives.
- Writing gives students more opportunity to assert themselves, their opinions and to develop their “voice.”
- It builds the confidence of students to clearly communicate their point of view, their thoughts, and their feelings.
Evaluation Details:
A 100 marks paper (50 marks internal and 50 marks external).Student needs to score at least 40% to pass.

Unit-1: Creative Writing- Introduction, Features of Creative writing, Tools of Creative writing, Creative Writing Samples
Unit-2: Characteristics of good writing, Vocabulary, Precise Language, Word Choices
Unit-3: Imagery, Character setting, Plot setting, Point of view, Sensory Details, Playwriting
Unit-4: Descriptive Writing, Persuasive Writing—Commercial, Memoir—Reflective Writing, Humor, Using Structure to Reflect Theme, Art, Music as Inspiration for Poetry

Certification: On successful completion of the course, certificates will be awarded to every participants.
