The Department of Child Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, Kanpur organized an Academic Enrichment Visit to Sparkle Child Therapy Center on 23rd February 2026 for M.Sc. Nursing students. The visit was arranged with the objective of enhancing clinical exposure and strengthening students’ understanding of multidisciplinary approaches in pediatric rehabilitation and developmental care.
The students accompanied by Prof. Dr. Minu S R, Vice-Principal and Prof. Vipin A, Faculty of Nursing, reached the therapy center at 10:00 AM. The session commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Shivangi Awasthi, Psychologist and Development Educator of the center. She provided a comprehensive orientation regarding the vision, mission and services offered at the center. She explained that the center focuses on early identification, intervention and rehabilitation of children with developmental delays, behavioral concerns, speech disorders and neurodevelopmental conditions.
During the guided tour of the faculty, students were introduced to various therapy units including the Speech Therapy Unit, Occupational Therapy Unit, Physiotherapy Section, and Sensory Integration Room. The guide elaborated on the specialized equipment and assistive devices used to enhance motor, cognitive and communication skills in children. Students were able to understand how structured therapy sessions are planned according to individual child needs.
The highlight of the visit was the live observation of therapy sessions. Students observed therapeutic interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, speech delay and cerebral palsy. Emphasis was placed on individualized goal setting, behavior modification strategies, sensory stimulation techniques and parent involvement in therapy. The multidisciplinary teamwork among therapists was clearly demonstrated, reflecting a holistic approach toward child-centered care.
An interactive case discussion session was conducted where assessment tools, documentation methods and progress evaluation strategies were explained. Dr. Shivangi Awasthi highlighted the importance of early screening, timely referral and continuous follow-up in pediatric rehabilitation. The accompanying faculty members encouraged students to critically analyze the nursing role in rehabilitation settings, particularly in counseling, family education and coordination of care.
The visit concluded with a reflection and feedback session from 11:45 AM to 12:00 Noon. Students shared their learning experiences and appreciated the practical exposure gained during the visit. Prof. Dr. Minu S R emphasized the significance of integrating rehabilitation concepts into advanced nursing practice, while Prof. Vipin A highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in improving child health outcomes.
Overall, the Academic Enrichment Visit to Sparkle Child Therapy Center was highly informative and academically beneficial. The visit successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enhancing the professional competencies of M.Sc. Nursing 1st year and 2nd year students in the field of pediatric rehabilitation and developmental nursing care.
