Agada Tantra Organised Poster Making and Presentation Competition on World Snake Day 2026

1. Introduction

World Snake Day is observed every year on 16th July to spread awareness about snake conservation, dispel common myths surrounding snakes, and educate the public on scientifically correct first-aid practices in the event of a snakebite. In observance of World Snake Day 2026, the Department of Agada Tantra, Rama Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital (RAMCH), Mandhana, Kanpur, organised a Poster Making and Poster Presentation Competition for BAMS students on the college campus.

Given that snakebite management falls within the core clinical purview of Agada Tantra, the competition was designed to deepen students' understanding of snake-related myths and facts as well as correct first-aid protocols, while nurturing their creative and communication skills.

2. Objectives

• To commemorate World Snake Day and create awareness among students about snake conservation and biodiversity.
• To dispel common myths surrounding snakes and snakebite by presenting scientifically accurate facts.
• To educate participants on correct snakebite first-aid practices – the Do's and Don'ts – in line with Agada Tantra principles and modern clinical protocols.
• To encourage creativity, visual communication, and public-speaking skills among BAMS students through poster making and poster presentation.

3. Event Details

The competition was open to all BAMS students and was conducted under two themes, with participants free to choose either one:

• Theme 1: Myth vs. Fact – creating awareness by debunking common myths about snakes and presenting scientific facts.
• Theme 2: Snakebite First Aid: Do's and Don'ts – educating the community about correct first-aid steps and practices to save lives.

Participants were required to prepare hand-drawn A3-size posters in English, with scientifically accurate content and creative illustrations and slogans. Following the Poster making session, each participant presented and explained their poster before the judging panel, articulating the message and rationale behind their design.

4. Coordination and Judging Panel

• Event Coordinator: Dr. Divyashri S., Assistant Professor, Department of Agada Tantra, RAMCH.
• Judge: Dr. Deepak Raja K., Associate Professor, Department of Kriya Sharira, RAMCH.
• Judge: Dr. T. V. S. Krishna, Associate Professor, Department of PTSR, RAMCH.

The judging panel evaluated the posters and presentations on the basis of scientific accuracy, creativity and illustration quality, clarity of message, and the participant's confidence and clarity during the presentation.

5. Participation

BAMS students across different professional years and batches participated enthusiastically in the competition, submitting hand-drawn posters on the two designated themes and presenting their work before the judges. The event saw active engagement, with participants creatively depicting snake ecology, myths and facts, and step-by-step first-aid protocols for snakebite management.

• Improved creativity, visual communication, and public-speaking confidence among participants through the poster making and presentation formats.
• Reinforced the Department of Agada Tantra's commitment to community health awareness and observance of significant health-related calendar days.

10. Conclusion

The Poster Making and Poster Presentation Competition organised on the occasion of World Snake Day 2026 successfully achieved its objective of raising awareness about snake conservation and correct snakebite first-aid practices, while providing BAMS students a creative platform to showcase their artistic and communication skills. The event reaffirmed the Department of Agada Tantra's continued commitment to community health education and awareness.
