Cervical Cancer Screening Camp at Bakerganj, Bithoor, Kanpur Nagar

Introduction:
An educational and awareness campaign was launched by collaborative team of Faculty of Allied and Healthcare Sciences and Faculty of Medical Sciences, Rama University organised a Cervical Cancer screening Camp at Bakerganj, Bithoor, Kanpur Nagar. It was initiated to raise awareness among women about the importance of health hygiene, and preventive care of cervical cancer. It was conducted in collaboration with Ekal& Inner Wheel Implementation Agency – POWER
Objective of the Event:
To create awareness and screen women for cervical cancer, promoting early detection and prevention.
Activities Undertaken within Event:
HealthAwareness Talks: Dr. Nidhi Sharma (MS Gayne)gave theInformative sessions She was delivered to raise awareness among women about the importance of health, hygiene, and promote of cervical cancer prevention
GeneralHealth Screening:
Check-ups for height, weight, blood pressure, BMI, and overall physical health were conducted by medical professionals.
Dental, Eye & Physiotherapy Check-ups:
Dedicated all Dept were set up for oral eye and physio examinations with consultations provided by specialists.
Collaborations:
The Health Camp was successfully organized in collaboration with Ekal& Inner Wheel Implementation Agency – POWER, specifically the Faculty of Allied & Health Care Sciences and faculty of Medical Sciences The faculty members, along with Interns and PG students, played a pivotal role in:
- Conducting cervical cancer screenings
- Conducting vision screenings and optometric evaluations.
- Performing physiotherapy assessments and postural check-ups.
- Delivering health education talks and counselling sessions.
Outcome of the Event:
The effectiveness of this program depends on overcoming barriers like low initial awareness, fear, and misconceptions, and translating positive attitudes into actual screening behaviour. Successful programs often use multi-faceted approaches that include community health workers, mass media, and technology to improve knowledge about risk factors, symptoms, and screening procedures
Conclusion:
An educational and awareness campaign was launched by collaborative team of Faculty of Allied and Healthcare Sciences and Faculty of Medical Sciences, Rama University with the aim to spread awareness about Cervical Cancer it’s management and its complications. Especially to enhance the sensitivity of the subject and to promote health education among females this Cervical Cancer screening camp was organised in line with the vision of Rama University and Government of India to promote health and education to all at ground level rural and sub-urban areas. The camp held on 21st November 2025 successfully educated 40+ women from the rural community of Bakerganj & Bithoor regarding the screening, hazards, complications and management of this disease.
