Children’s Day 2025 was celebrated with heartfelt enthusiasm as the Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, organized a special School Health Programme at Government Primary School (Composite), Ramnagar, Kanpur. Under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Jasmi Johnson, Dean, Faculty of Nursing, and the supervision of Prof. Aslam Abbas, Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing, the nursing students collaborated with Principal Mrs. Rafat Masood and Assistant Teacher Mrs. Sadhana Awasthi to conduct the event. Children’s Day, celebrated in honour of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, holds great significance as it recognizes the innocence, potential, and rights of every child. It reminds society of its responsibility to nurture, protect, and empower children so they can grow into confident, healthy, and responsible citizens. As part of this special celebration, the nursing students carried out a thorough general health check-up for nearly 50 primary and junior students, assessing their vital signs, oral health, and growth parameters to promote early detection of minor ailments and to encourage better health awareness.
The programme continued with joyful participation as students attended various health education sessions focusing on personal hygiene, nutrition, dental care, and regular handwashing practices. A meaningful session on Good Touch and Bad Touch provided essential guidance on personal safety, body boundaries, and the importance of seeking help when feeling unsafe. To make the day even more enriching, the children presented a captivating role play on the 10 Rights of Children, emphasizing equality, affection, justice, and the unconditional support every child deserves. The activity inspired confidence and empathy among the children, making the celebration both educational and memorable.
Following the health assessments, the nursing students conducted an interactive Q&A session where children eagerly asked questions related to health, hygiene, and nutrition, allowing them to clarify doubts and learn in an engaging way. Every child received a thoughtful gift as a token of love, appreciation, and encouragement symbolizing the spirit of Children’s Day and reminding them that they are valued and cherished. The programme concluded with positive feedback from the students and heartfelt appreciation from Principal Mrs. Rafat Masood, who acknowledged the meaningful contribution of the Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, toward promoting school health and nurturing young learners.
