Dental Screening and Oral Health Awareness Program Conducted for School Children under School Adoption Initiative

Objectives:
The Department of Public Health Dentistry has conducted a dental screening camp in adopted school to improve the oral health of the school children. This is being done:
- To create awareness among school children about oral health problems and their prevention.
- To make them aware about the importance of healthy teeth.
- To provide preventive measures for the prevention of oral health diseases at an early age.
- To refer the children needing treatment to Rama Dental College, Hospital and Research Centre for advanced treatments at discounted rates.
Outcomes:
Rama Dental College, Hospital and Research Centre, Department of Public Health Dentistry Mandhana, Kanpur conducted a screening camp in the adopted school ‘Rani Laxmi Bai Inter College, Bithoor, Kanpur on 14th May, 2026 with enthusiastic participation from faculty and interns under the guidance of the Principal- Dr. Asheesh Sawhny, and Head of Department - Dr. Nidhi Shukla.
A Team of Dental Professionals visited the school, educating the school children about the basic oral hygiene practices and preventive care, followed by a free dental screening camp. The correct method of toothbrushing technique was demonstrated to the children. The Program received positive response in improving awareness.
Almost 124 school children were examined for oral healthcare problems. Children requiring treatment were referred to Rama Dental College, Hospital & Research Centre for treatment at discounted rates.
