Dental Screening and Oral Health Awareness Programme Promotes Preventive Care Among Factory Workers

DENTAL SCREENING AND ORAL HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM CONDUCTED FOR FACTORY WORKERS WORKING AT WAH INDIA SPICES IN RANIA KANPUR DEHAT.
Promoting preventive oral healthcare awareness among factory workers through screening.

Objectives: the department of oral pathology conducted a dental screening camp at Wah India Spices Factory in Rania, Kanpur Dehat
The objectives of the program were to:
- Assess the oral health and hygiene status of workers
- Create awareness regarding harmful effects of tobacco consumption
- Promote tobacco cessation and healthy oral habits
- Educate workers about the importance of early detection of oral potentially malignant disorders, particularly OSMF and oral cancer
- Identify workers requiring further evaluation or treatment and facilitate their referral to Rama Dental College, Hospital and Research Center Mandhana, Kanpur for advanced dental care at discounted rates.
Outcome: the Department of Oral Pathology, Rama Dental College, Hospital and Research Center Mandhana, Kanpur conducted a screening camp at Wah India Spices factory in Rania, Kanpur Dehat on 21/09/26 with enthusiastic participation from faculty, post graduate students and interns under the guidance of the Principal – Dr. Asheesh Sahwney an HOD, Dr Sujata Saxena.
A team of dental professionals visited the factory and conducted oral health screening of approximately 250 factory workers. The factory employees were educated about the adverse effects of tobacco consumption, importance of maintain good oral hygiene, early recognition of oral lesions and benefits of tobacco cessation.
The program received positive response from the employees and contributed to increasing awareness regarding oral health and tobacco related diseases. Those requiring further investigation or treatment were referred to Rama Dental college, Mandhana for appropriate management at discounted rates.
