Educational Visit of B.Sc. Agriculture students to Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI), Regional Research Station, Lucknow

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences & Allied Industries (FASAI), Rama University, Uttar Pradesh organized an Educational Visit to the Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI), Regional Research Station on 15 September 2026 for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture. The visit was organized with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to soil-related problems, reclamation technologies, soil health management, and sustainable agricultural practices.
The visit commenced with the best wishes and encouragement of the university dignitaries and Dr. Aneeta Yadav, Dean, FASAI, who motivated the students to actively participate and gain maximum knowledge from the field visit. The students were introduced to various aspects of soil salinity and sodicity, soil reclamation, soil health management, and sustainable soil and water management practices.
During the visit, Dr. Anil Kumar Dubey, Head, CSSRI–Regional Research Station, welcomed the students and provided valuable insights into the activities and research initiatives of the station. Dr. S.K. Jha, Senior Scientist, explained important concepts related to saline and sodic soils, their identification, management, and reclamation techniques. Dr. Arjun Singh, Principal Scientist, further interacted with the students and shared practical knowledge regarding modern research approaches, soil and water management technologies, and their application in sustainable agriculture.The interaction with the scientists provided students with an opportunity to connect their classroom learning with real-world agricultural challenges. The students gained a better understanding of the causes and management of soil salinity and sodicity, reclamation practices, maintenance of soil health, and the importance of efficient soil and water management for sustainable agricultural production.The visit was coordinated by Dr. Raghvendra Singh & Dr. Jitendra Kumar, who jointly facilitated the academic interaction and ensured the smooth conduct of the educational programme.
Overall, the educational visit was an informative, interactive, and academically enriching experience for the students. It successfully complemented their theoretical education with practical exposure and enhanced their practical knowledge, research awareness, professional understanding, and appreciation of sustainable agricultural practices. The visit also encouraged students to explore modern scientific approaches for addressing soil-related constraints and improving agricultural productivity.
