Rama Institute of Paramedical Sciences orchestrated an enlightening excursion for BPT and DPT students, delving into the realm of empowerment and education at the National Institute for Visually Handicapped (NIVH) in Dehradun.

NIVH, a stalwart in the domain of visually disabled empowerment, formerly known as NIEPVD, stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity since 1943 under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Catering to a diverse range of services, NIVH exemplifies dedication towards fostering inclusivity and education.
The Experience:
Under the mentorship of Dr. Apoorva Srivastava (PT), 23 students embarked on a journey of enlightenment. Commencing with an informative video elucidating the significance of rehabilitation, the visit unfolded into a comprehensive exploration.
Highlights:
The sojourn commenced at the Savitribai Phule Bhawan Cross Disability Early Intervention Centre, where students witnessed first-hand the implementation of various therapies and consultations tailored for individuals with visual impairments, including occupational therapy, sensory integration therapy, and speech therapy.
Venturing into the Model Senior Secondary School for the Visually Handicapped, students were immersed in the vibrancy of educational endeavours undertaken by visually impaired students. From interactive sports sessions to the marvels of braille-based education, the school epitomized resilience and academic prowess.
A visit to the production center unveiled the ingenuity behind specialized tools essential for the visually impaired community. Witnessing the manufacturing process of braille materials and adaptive sports equipment provided invaluable insights into the realm of accessibility and innovation.
