15 Apr 2024
National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day (NYHAAD) is an annual event observed on April 10th to shed light on the impact of HIV on young individuals. Aimed at fostering understanding and promoting preventive measures, this year's theme, "#Stop HIV Together," underscores the collective effort needed to combat the disease. Recognizing the pivotal role of educational institutions in safeguarding youth health, the Faculty of Nursing at Rama University in Kanpur took proactive steps to address this pressing issue.
On April 10th, 2024, the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing organized an extension outreach program at Ram Janaki Inter College, Bithoor, Kanpur, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sarvesh Singh. With the participation of 100 students, including B.Sc. Nursing 4th year and GNM 3rd year students, the program aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention strategies.
Utilizing innovative tools such as PowerPoint presentations and audio-visual aids like flashcards and flip charts, the faculty effectively disseminated crucial information on HIV/AIDS prevention. Following the educational sessions, an interactive feedback session allowed students to pose questions and provide insights, fostering a dynamic exchange of knowledge.
The initiative received accolades from Principal Dr. Sarvesh Singh, who commended the students and faculty for their proactive approach to societal welfare. Through collaborative efforts and community engagement, Rama University's Faculty of Nursing demonstrated its commitment to empowering youth and promoting a healthier, more informed society.
