An expert talk was organized on 1st May 2025 by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences & Allied Industries (FASAI), Rama University. Prof. Dr. Mahak Singh, a renowned mustard breeder from Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology (CSAUA&T), Kanpur, delivered a lecture on “Quality Seed Production of Indian Rapeseed Mustard”. He have contributed Ten Rapeseed-mustard varieties namely, Urvashi (RK 9501) in 1999, Basanti (RK 8501) in 2001, Maya (RK 9902) in 2002, Kanti (RK 9807) in 2002, Ashirwad (RK 01-3) in 2005, Pitambari (RYSK5-2) in 2009,Tapeshwari(TK 06-1) in 2018, Azad Chetana (TKM14-2) in 2019, Azad Mahak (KMR(E)15-2) in 2019 and Surekha(KMR 16-2). Dr. Aneeta Yadav, Dean, FASAI, welcomed Dr. Singh with a live plant and later felicitated him with a certificate of appreciation.Dr. Mahak Singh delivered an insightful and highly informative lecture on various aspects of Indian rapeseed mustard, focusing particularly on strategies and best practices for quality seed production. His talk covered key topics such as genetic purity, field standards, isolation distances, seed certification procedures, and post-harvest handling techniques. He also emphasized the importance of adopting scientific seed production protocols to enhance crop yield and sustainability. The lecture was followed by an interactive session, where participants actively engaged with the expert through questions and discussions, gaining valuable inputs relevant to academic learning and field-level application.The event successfully achieved its objective of enriching the knowledge base of students and faculty members on quality seed production techniques in mustard, a vital oilseed crop in India. The session provided valuable insights on scientific seed production practices, genetic purity, and field-level protocols, enriching participants’ academic and practical understanding. Overall it was a successful event.
