Exploring Rehabilitation: Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, Kanpur, U.P. Organizes Industrial Visit to ALIMCO

Kanpur, U.P. - The Faculty of Nursing at Rama University in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, recently organized a two-day industrial visit to ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India) for its B.Sc. Nursing 4th year students. This initiative aimed to provide students with practical exposure in nursing management, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.
Understanding ALIMCO's Mission
ALIMCO, a Schedule ‘C’ Miniratna Category II Central Public Sector Enterprises, is dedicated to manufacturing rehabilitation aids for persons with disabilities. Their objective revolves around providing high-quality aids and appliances to benefit individuals with disabilities across the nation.
Day One: Immersive Learning Experience
On the first day of the visit, 50 students were accompanied by faculty members Mrs. S. Sumiya and Mr. Manu Chacko. Under the guidance of ALIMCO's authorities and the Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, students underwent safety procedures before delving into various sections of the facility. They gained insights into audiometry, prosthetics and orthotics, casting rooms, and more. Additionally, they explored occupational hazards and safety measures within an industrial setting.
Day Two: Continued Exploration
The second day witnessed another group of 50 students, along with faculty members Mr. Vipin .A and Ms. KVLD Bhavani, engaging in a similar learning experience. Students revisited key areas such as the APOC centre, prosthetic labs, and material preparation plants, gaining deeper insights into ALIMCO's operations and the complexities of rehabilitation aid manufacturing.
The industrial visit concluded with accolades from Dr. Mishra Sr., HR Manager at ALIMCO. Both students and faculty expressed gratitude to ALIMCO's team and Dr. Jasmi Manu, Principal of the Faculty of Nursing, for the invaluable learning opportunity provided. The visit not only enriched students' understanding of nursing management but also instilled a sense of appreciation for the impactful work being done in the field of rehabilitation.
Such initiatives underscore Rama University's commitment to holistic education and preparing its students for the challenges and opportunities of the healthcare industry.
