Faculty Development Programme Concludes with Focus on Outcome-Based Learning, Innovation, and Nursing Excellence

The fifth and concluding day of the Faculty Development Programme was conducted successfully with enthusiastic participation from nursing faculty members, academicians, research scholars, delegates, and students through hybrid mode. The final day of the FDP focused on curriculum planning, outcome-based education, digital learning innovations, and the overall reflection of the five-day academic programme. The sessions provided participants with valuable exposure to modern educational strategies, academic leadership, and technology-enabled learning approaches in nursing education.
The programme commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and dedication towards the nursing profession. The ceremony created a positive and inspiring atmosphere for the academic sessions of the day.
The programme formally began with the inauguration and brief introduction of the resource person by Prof. Vipin A., HOD, Child Health Nursing, Rama College of Nursing, Rama University. He warmly welcomed all the dignitaries, keynote speakers, delegates, faculty members, and students. He emphasized the importance of faculty development programmes in strengthening professional competencies, academic excellence, and innovative teaching practices among nurse educators.
The first keynote address was delivered by Dr. Anjalatchi Muthukumaran, Vice Principal cum Nursing Superintendent, ELMCH, Era College of Nursing, Era University, Lucknow on the topic “Curriculum Development & Outcome-Based Education.” The speaker provided a detailed overview of learner-centered curriculum planning and highlighted the significance of outcome-based education in nursing institutions. The session focused on competency-based teaching, curriculum mapping, formulation of learning objectives, and effective evaluation methods for assessing student performance. The speaker also discussed innovative teaching-learning strategies, continuous assessment methods, and the integration of theory with clinical practice to improve student learning outcomes and professional competency. Participants gained practical understanding regarding curriculum implementation, quality assurance, and the importance of curriculum revision according to healthcare needs and educational standards.
The next session commenced with the brief introduction of the resource person by Mrs. Agnes Mahima David, Associate Professor, Rama College of Nursing, Rama University. The second keynote session was delivered by Dr. Alka Saxena, Professor cum Principal, Government College of Nursing, BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur. The session focused on professional development, academic leadership, and innovative educational practices in nursing education. The speaker elaborated on the evolving role of nurse educators in preparing competent healthcare professionals and emphasized the importance of evidence-based teaching practices in nursing institutions. She discussed the challenges faced by faculty members in modern healthcare education and shared effective strategies for improving classroom teaching, clinical supervision, student mentorship, and faculty development. The speaker also highlighted the significance of communication skills, ethical values, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership qualities in strengthening nursing education and improving patient care services. The session motivated participants to continuously update their professional knowledge and adopt innovative approaches in academic and clinical teaching.
The final keynote session was preceded by the introduction of the resource person by Mrs. Niladrita Deb, Associate Professor, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Rama College of Nursing, Rama University. Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Dean cum Principal, Rama College of Nursing, Rama University delivered the keynote address on “E-Content Development and Digital Learning Modules.” The speaker emphasized the growing importance of digital technology and online educational platforms in modern nursing education. The session focused on the preparation and utilization of e-content, digital teaching materials, online educational resources, virtual classrooms, and interactive learning modules for improving student engagement and academic effectiveness. The speaker explained the process of developing quality digital educational content using innovative technological tools and highlighted the advantages of blended learning approaches in nursing education. Practical guidance was also provided regarding video-assisted teaching, online assessment methods, multimedia learning resources, and virtual simulation techniques for enhancing the learning experience of nursing students. The session encouraged faculty members to strengthen their digital competencies and adopt technology-enabled teaching strategies to meet the evolving demands of healthcare education.
An interactive question-and-answer session was conducted following the keynote sessions, where participants actively clarified their queries and shared their learning experiences from the FDP. The discussion session created an opportunity for academic interaction, exchange of ideas, and reflection on the various topics covered during the five-day programme.
The valedictory session marked the successful completion of the Faculty Development Programme. During the session, certificates of appreciation were presented to all the keynote speakers in recognition of their valuable academic contribution and expert guidance throughout the FDP. Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Dean cum Principal, Rama College of Nursing, Rama University, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the keynote speakers, delegates, organizing committee members, faculty coordinators, participants, and technical support teams for their sincere cooperation and active involvement in making the five-day Faculty Development Programme highly informative and successful. She also appreciated the enthusiastic participation and academic commitment shown by all the delegates throughout the programme.
Dr. Minu S.R., Vice Principal, Rama College of Nursing, then delivered the formal vote of thanks and conveyed sincere appreciation to the management of Rama University, resource persons, faculty members, delegates, and organizers for their continuous support and contribution towards the successful conduct of the FDP.
Participants were further requested to complete the post-test and feedback form as part of the programme evaluation process. The five-day Faculty Development Programme concluded successfully with the National Anthem, followed by positive feedback and appreciation from all participants.
