Faculty Development Programmes play a vital role in strengthening the quality of higher education by enhancing the professional competencies, teaching skills, research abilities, and leadership qualities of educators. In the rapidly evolving healthcare and educational environment, nurse educators must continuously update their knowledge and adopt innovative teaching-learning methodologies to prepare competent nursing professionals. The Five-Day Faculty Development Programme titled “Empowering Nurse Educators: Bridging Education, Practice, Research & Innovations” was organized by Rama College of Nursing, Rama University with the objective of empowering nursing educators through advanced knowledge, innovative teaching strategies, research integration, and professional skill enhancement.
The first day of the Five-Day Faculty Development Programme on “Empowering Nurse Educators: Bridging Education, Practice, Research & Innovations” commenced successfully at Rama College of Nursing with great enthusiasm and active participation from faculty members, nursing professionals, researchers, and students. The programme aimed to strengthen nursing education by integrating innovative teaching methodologies, research, and evidence-based clinical practice.
The programme started with the Introduction and Pre-test conducted by Prof. S. Sumiya, HOD, Department of Mental Health Nursing. She welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and participants and explained the objectives and significance of the FDP. This was followed by the ceremonial Lamp Lighting, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. The ceremony created a positive and motivating atmosphere for the academic sessions.
The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Minu S.R., Vice Principal, Rama College of Nursing. She warmly welcomed all the resource persons, delegates, and participants and emphasized the role of faculty development programmes in enhancing academic excellence, teaching competency, and research culture among nursing educators. She encouraged participants to actively utilize the FDP as a platform for learning and professional growth.
The Inaugural Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Dean cum Principal, Rama College of Nursing. In her address, she emphasized the growing need for innovation in nursing education and highlighted the importance of integrating education, practice, and research for improving healthcare quality. She motivated the participants to adopt learner-centered teaching methodologies, evidence-based practices, and digital technologies in nursing education to prepare competent healthcare professionals.
Mrs. K. Jyothisree, HOD, Medical-Surgical Nursing, introduced the keynote speaker and highlighted her academic achievements and professional contributions in the field of nursing education.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Dipti Shukla, Professor cum Principal, Samarpan Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences, Lucknow, on the topic “Intellectual Property Rights and Developing Patentable Ideas in Nursing and Healthcare.”
During the session, Madam explained the concept and importance of Intellectual Property Rights in healthcare and nursing education. She elaborated on different forms of intellectual property such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, and designs and explained how innovative ideas developed by healthcare professionals can be legally protected. She highlighted that nursing professionals and educators can contribute significantly to healthcare innovation through research-based inventions, healthcare technologies, educational tools, patient care models, and community healthcare solutions.
The speaker discussed the step-by-step process involved in identifying innovative ideas and converting them into patentable healthcare products or services. She emphasized that nurse educators should encourage creativity, innovation, and research culture among students and faculty members. She also explained the importance of originality, documentation, ethical considerations, and legal procedures involved in filing patents and protecting intellectual property.
Dr. Dipti Shukla further discussed how intellectual property rights can promote research productivity, academic recognition, entrepreneurship, and healthcare advancements. She motivated participants to develop innovative educational methods, simulation tools, digital learning resources, and patient care innovations that can contribute to the improvement of nursing education and healthcare delivery systems.
The session was highly informative and interactive. Participants actively interacted with the speaker and clarified their doubts regarding intellectual property rights, patent filing procedures, innovation development, and research commercialization in nursing and healthcare sectors. The keynote session enhanced participants’ understanding regarding the importance of innovation, creativity, and research-based advancements in nursing education and healthcare practice.
The day concluded with a brief summary of the sessions conducted and a formal note of appreciation to the dignitaries, keynote speaker, organizing committee, and participants for making the inaugural day of the FDP successful and academically enriching.
