Faculty of Allied Healthcare Sciences Observed World Population Day Promoting Awareness, Health, Equality, and Sustainable Development

World Population Day is observed every year on 11 July to raise awareness about global population issues, including population growth, reproductive health, family planning, gender equality, maternal health, and sustainable development. The day was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989 following the milestone of the world's population reaching five billion on 11 July 1987. Objectives ? To create awareness about population-related challenges. ? To promote family planning and reproductive health services. ? To emphasize the importance of maternal and child healthcare. ? To encourage gender equality and women's empowerment. ? To highlight the role of education in achieving sustainable population growth. Programme Details On the occasion of World Population Day, our institution Faculty of Allied & Healthcare Sciences organized an awareness programme to educate students and the community about population-related issues .The program was conducted between 10:30am to 12:30pm at LT-03, Faculty of Allied & Healthcare Sciences, Rama Hospital Building 4th floor under the theme “Realizing the hopes and Aspirations of young people- today & for the future”. The programme began with a welcome address by the organizing committee Dr. Nidhi Agarwal, followed by an inaugural speech highlighting the significance of World Population Day by our own Principal & Dean Dr. Brijendra Nigam. Faculty Coordinator Dr. Gulwish Sadique discussed topics such as population growth, responsible parenthood, family planning methods, nutrition, adolescent health, and the importance of informed reproductive choices. Nukkad Natak with informative slogans ? Health education session Educational materials and awareness pamphlets were distributed among participants. Interactive sessions allowed students to clarify doubts regarding reproductive health, nutrition, and family welfare. Key Messages ? Small family, healthy family. ? Education and awareness are essential for population stabilization. ? Access to quality healthcare improves maternal and child health. ? Gender equality contributes to healthier families and communities. ? Sustainable population growth supports environmental conservation and economic development. Outcome The programme successfully increased awareness among students and participants regarding population issues and the importance of responsible family planning. It encouraged positive attitudes toward reproductive health, gender equality, and sustainable development. Conclusion World Population Day serves as an important reminder that population-related challenges require collective action. Through education, healthcare, and community participation, society can work towards achieving a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable future. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organizers, faculty members, and participants for making the event a success.
