Faculty of Commerce and Management Organises Student Development Program on Prompt Engineering

The Faculty of Commerce and Management (FCM), Rama University, Kanpur organised a Student Development Program (SDP) on “Prompt Engineering” on 24 August 2026 at the Seminar Hall, V.C. Building. The programme aimed to familiarise students with the effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through well-structured prompts and to develop their digital and technology-oriented skills.
The session was delivered by Dr. Vibha Arora, Associate Dean and Coordinator – IBS Alumni Federation, an alumna of IIM Ahmedabad, with more than 24 years of academic and research experience in Consumer Behaviour and Services Marketing. She has published research in reputed international journals and received several academic recognitions, including the Best Commended Paper Award 2021 and a Best Teacher Award.
The programme focused on:
- Understanding the concept and importance of prompt engineering.
- Developing effective communication with AI-based tools.
- Improving the quality and relevance of AI-generated responses.
- Exploring AI applications in research, content creation, marketing, business communication, data analysis and problem-solving.
- Promoting responsible and ethical use of AI.
- Developing future-ready digital skills among students.
The interactive session provided students with practical insights into framing clear, specific and structured prompts. Students were encouraged to use AI as a supportive technology while maintaining critical thinking, creativity and human judgement.
Students actively participated in the session and showed keen interest in exploring AI applications in their academic and professional fields. The programme enhanced their AI literacy, digital competence, critical thinking and awareness of emerging technologies. It also helped students understand the growing relevance of AI skills in management, commerce and the corporate sector.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Indu Shukla, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Rama University, Kanpur, with the coordination of Ms. Priyanka Chetri and Ms. Sanya Srivastava, Event Coordinators, FCM. The Faculty appreciates their efforts in successfully organising the programme and acknowledges the valuable contribution of Dr. Vibha Arora and the active participation of the students.
The SDP on “Prompt Engineering” was a timely and valuable initiative that provided students with practical exposure to an emerging AI skill. The programme successfully encouraged students to embrace technology responsibly and integrate AI into their academic and future professional activities while maintaining human expertise and critical thinking.
