An awareness and training programme on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013 was successfully conducted by the Faculty of Juridical Sciences in collaboration with the Faculty of Medical Sciences on 11th April 2026 in the Medical Department. The programme aimed to sensitize participants about the legal framework governing sexual harassment at the workplace and to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. R. Sujata, Principal (FMS) and Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, Dean (FJS).
The session witnessed active participation from a diverse group, including senior doctors, junior doctors, nursing staff, interns, students, and other members of the medical department. The presence of a large number of female participants added further significance, making the initiative inclusive and impactful.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Diksha Taneja, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Juridical Sciences, along with her dedicated team, with support from Ms. Riddhi Tripathi, HOD (FJS). The session was conducted in an interactive manner, focusing on creating awareness about what constitutes sexual harassment, including its physical, verbal, and non-verbal forms. Emphasis was also placed on maintaining professional boundaries in the workplace.
Participants were informed about their rights and remedies under the POSH Act, 2013 and were guided through the procedure for filing complaints. Special attention was given to explaining the role, composition, and functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), ensuring clarity regarding the redressal mechanisms available.
The session incorporated practical examples and real-life scenarios, which enhanced understanding and encouraged active engagement. Participants were given the opportunity to raise queries and participate in meaningful discussions, fostering a deeper awareness of the subject.
The programme proved to be highly informative and impactful, strengthening awareness about workplace rights and responsibilities while promoting a culture of dignity, equality, and sensitivity. It reinforced the importance of a safe working environment, particularly in the medical field where teamwork and trust are essential.
The programme concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants, reflecting its effectiveness in achieving its objectives. This initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring a safe and harassment-free workplace within the institution.
