Faculty of Juridical Sciences Celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti

Faculty of juridical sciences celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti 2019 on Sunday 15th of April, at Vice-Chancellor building, Rama University, Kanpur. The event commenced at 10.30 a.m. by paying homage to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with a garlanding ceremony carried out by Registrar, Chief Guest, and the Dean in the forecourt and was followed by a photography-session on the stage.
Furthermore, the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Rohit P. Shabran, (Dean) FJS. While addressing, he read the report on activities conducted in the department during the 129th birth year of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Later, Mr. Prabhat Ranjan, Registrar, Rama University spoke on the occasion and elaborated on the prominent thoughts and philosophy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
The guest of the event, Adv. Kapil Deep Sachan, Secretary, Kanpur Bar Association delivered his speech on the theme “Social Justice and Sustainable Development of a Nation”. He said “Today, an important transition is happening in India. For today’s generation, Dr. Ambedkar has become a symbol of ‘Democracy’ and ‘Freedom’. He is an icon of ‘Free Speech’ and ‘Social Justice’. Dr. Ambedkar is at the center of democracy in India.”
Another guest Senior Adv. Upendra Singh Bhadauria, Vice-President Lawyers Association said “Babasaheb’s birth anniversary has been observed at United Nations for the first time with a focus on combating inequalities to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (to eliminate poverty, hunger and socio-economic inequality by 2030). Babasaheb remains an inspiration for millions of Indians and proponents of equality and social justice across the globe.”
Adv. Former Vice-President, Adv. Manoj Dwivedi elaborated further on the concepts of ‘entitlement’ and ‘capabilities’. He stressed the importance of basic necessity, namely ‘education’ and ‘health’ in realizing individual capabilities to ‘rise to the full human potential’.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, Asst. Prof. Faculty of Juridical Sciences and was followed by the national anthem.
