The Faculty of Juridical Sciences, Rama University, successfully organized a Legal Awareness Programme on Child Rights on 31st July 2026 for the students of the Second Year, Third Year, Fourth Year, and Fifth Year with the objective of creating awareness about the legal rights, protection, and welfare of children under the Indian legal framework.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Dean, Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, and the Head of Department, Ms. Riddhi Tripathi. The event was coordinated by Dr. Inderjeet Kaur and Ms. Varalika Nigam, who ensured the smooth conduct of the programme and encouraged active student participation.
During the programme, the students were sensitized to the concept of child rights and the legal mechanisms available for the protection of children against exploitation, abuse, neglect, trafficking, child labour, and discrimination. The session covered important constitutional provisions relating to child welfare, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, and other relevant national and international legal frameworks safeguarding children's rights.
The programme also highlighted the role of legal professionals, educational institutions, parents, and society in ensuring the protection and holistic development of children. Students actively participated in discussions and shared their views on the importance of legal awareness in preventing violations of child rights. The interactive question-and-answer session enabled participants to clarify their doubts and gain a better understanding of the practical implementation of child protection laws.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of the faculty coordinators and the enthusiastic participation of the students. The Legal Awareness Programme proved to be highly informative and impactful, reinforcing the responsibility of future legal professionals to promote and protect the rights and dignity of every child.
