Day 1-Report- Dr. B.S. Kushwah Memorial National Moot Court Competition-2025
The Moot Court Club of Faculty of Juridical Sciences (FJS), Rama University, Kanpur, inaugurated the 1st Dr. B.S. Kushwah National Moot Court Competition on 10th October 2025 at the VC Building, Rama University, under the guidance of Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall (Dean, FJS).
The event began with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, followed by an overview of the competition presented by Ms. Riddhi Tripathi (HOD).
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Mr. Durgesh Pandey, Additional District Judge, Kanpur Dehat, in the esteemed presence of Shri Prabhat Ranjan, Registrar, Rama University. The dignitaries jointly declared the competition open.
In his keynote address, Mr. Pandey commended Rama University for creating a robust academic platform that bridges the gap between classroom learning and courtroom practice. He emphasized the significance of mooting in shaping confident, articulate, and ethically grounded legal professionals.
The day marked the commencement of a two-day national-level competition aimed at enhancing advocacy, research, and analytical skills among law students across India. The competition witnessed participation from around 50 teams representing premier institutions, including National Law Universities (NLUs), O.P. Jindal Global University, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), University of Allahabad, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), and several others.The event was organized by the Moot Court Club of Rama University under the supervision of Ms. Diksha Taneja (Moot Court Coordinator).
Preliminary and Quarter-Final Rounds
Following the inauguration, the Preliminary Rounds of the competition commenced, adjudicated by a distinguished panel of 17 external judges, including practicing advocates, legal experts, and academicians.

Mr. Mahendra Dixit, Mr. Vishal Gupta, Ms. Sherwani Pandey, Mr. Shubham Srivastava, Mr. Pulatsya Shukla, Mr. Shivam Shukla, Ms. Anchal Tripathi, Ms. Shreyanshi Singh, Ms. Kajal Kushwaha, Mr. Amarnath Gupta, Ms. Vaishnavi Singh, Ms. Pragya Agarwal, Ms. Pragati Garg, Ms. Palak, Mr. Aditya Bangla, Ms. Priyanshi Shukla, and Md. Shad.
After a series of intense and intellectually stimulating rounds of legal argumentation, the top-performing teams advanced to the Quarter-Final Rounds, which were also conducted on Day 1. Participants showcased exceptional skills in legal research, reasoning, and advocacy, making the competition both enriching and competitive.
The day concluded with the announcement of the teams qualifying for the Semi-Finals, scheduled for the following day.
Day One ended on a highly successful note, laying a strong foundation for the upcoming rounds. The entire department received wide appreciation for the event’s smooth coordination, meticulous planning, and professional execution.
