The Faculty of Juridical Sciences, Rama University, Kanpur, successfully organized the 1st National Public Interest Litigation (PIL) Drafting Competition 2025 in online mode, with results declared on 8th December 2025 under the direction of Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall (Dean-FJS). The competition aimed to strengthen the drafting skills of law students across the country, promote research-oriented learning, and encourage young legal minds to engage with contemporary issues of public importance.
This national-level event served as a platform for participants to showcase their analytical abilities, legal reasoning, and drafting proficiency in the field of Public Interest Litigation.
The competition commenced on 7th November 2025 and concluded on 25th November 2025. Participants were provided ample time to research, analyse, and prepare their PIL drafts with clarity, precision, and proper legal structure.
The event received an overwhelming response with more than 50 candidates participating from various states across India. This reflects the growing interest of law students in constitutional law, public policy, and PIL drafting.
The competition was conducted under the academic supervision and leadership of the Faculty of Juridical Sciences, ensuring high academic and professional standards throughout the event.
The event was convened by Ms. Nivedita Rai, whose effective coordination significantly contributed to the smooth and successful organization of the competition.
The team of student coordinators—Mr. Shikhar Srivastava (9th Semester), Ms. Shristi Singh (5th Semester), and Mr. Rohit Kumar Yadav (3rd Semester)—managed participant communication, technical arrangements, and timely execution of all tasks with great diligence.
Participants were required to submit a well-structured PIL draft on a contemporary issue of public significance. The submissions were evaluated on various parameters, including originality of the issue, clarity in the statement of facts, strength of legal grounds, application of constitutional provisions, drafting structure and coherence, and the depth and accuracy of research citations.
After a comprehensive evaluation of all PIL submissions, the top three positions were awarded to:
1st Position – PRAPTI
2nd Position – S. YUVASRIJA
3rd Position – KRUSHUTA, DISHA
The 1st National PIL Drafting Competition (Online) 2025 proved to be both academically enriching and practically insightful.
