Faculty of Juridical Sciences Organised “Yuva Sansad 2026: 1st National Youth Parliament Competition”
The Faculty of Juridical Sciences (FJS), Rama University, Kanpur, through Manthan Club – The Debating Society, organised “Yuva Sansad 2026: 1st National Youth Parliament Competition” on 29th September 2026 at the Seminar Hall, 1st Floor, V.C. Building, Rama University, Kanpur, under the direction of Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, Dean, Faculty of Juridical Sciences.
The competition was organised with the objective of providing students with a practical and academic platform to understand the functioning of parliamentary democracy and to develop their skills in research, critical thinking, argumentation, public speaking, leadership, and democratic participation. It encouraged young participants to engage with contemporary national issues, develop informed perspectives, present arguments within a parliamentary framework, and participate in democratic discourse in a structured and responsible manner.
The event was conducted under the theme “VIKSIT BHARAT @ 2047: STRENGTHENING DEMOCRACY THROUGH YOUTH PARTICIPATION,” highlighting the significant role of youth in strengthening democratic institutions and contributing towards India’s developmental vision for 2047.
Inaugural Session and Dignitaries
The programme was graced by Mr. Rahul Baccha Sonkar, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Bilhaur, Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, Dean-FJS, welcomed the Chief Guest, jury members, faculty members, and participants and highlighted the academic significance of organising a Youth Parliament for developing constitutional awareness and democratic values among students.
The programme was also attended by distinguished academic dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) Abhay Shukla, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), and Prof. (Dr.) Anita Yadav, Dean, Faculty of Allied Sciences and AI (FASAI). The proceedings were presided over by Advocate Amarnath Gupta, who served as the Speaker of the Event and facilitated the structured and orderly conduct of the Youth Parliament.
Jury and Evaluation
The competition was adjudicated by a distinguished panel comprising Prof. Dr. Ajay Bhupendra Jaiswal, Advocate Shubham Srivastava, and Advocate Khalid Ali Khan Afridi.
The participants were evaluated on various parameters, including:
- Quality of research and preparation
- Argumentation and logical reasoning
- Relevance and understanding of the subject
- Parliamentary language and conduct
- Presentation and communication skills
- Responsiveness and participation
- Overall contribution to the proceedings
Priyanshi Singh, B.B.A.LL.B., 9th Semester, served as the Scribe, while Md. Sameer served as the Time Keeper.
