Faculty of Juridical Sciences Organises Awareness Programme on Cyber Crime – “Stay Safe, Stay Informed”

On October 6, 2026, the Faculty of Juridical Sciences, Rama University, Kanpur, hosted an academic session titled “Stay Safe, Stay Informed” under the leadership of Dean Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall. The initiative aimed to cultivate cyber literacy, digital jurisprudence, and responsible online behavior among legal scholars and students
The programme aimed to:
- Create awareness about common forms of cybercrime and online fraud.
- Educate students about cyber safety, privacy, and digital responsibility.
- Familiarise participants with basic legal provisions and remedies relating to cyber offences.
- Promote responsible use of social media, online banking, UPI, and digital platforms.
- Encourage students to report cyber incidents through appropriate legal and institutional channels.
Key Deliberations and Legal Frameworks
Resource persons Ms. Vaishnavi Shukla and Ms. Nivedita Rai led the technical session, focusing on the legal, technical, and procedural dimensions of contemporary cyber threats. Key areas examined included:
- Cyber Threat Vectors: Typologies of cybercrimes, including phishing, online financial fraud, identity theft, cyberbullying, and social media misuse.
- Digital Hygiene & Data Protection: Best practices in password security, credential management, and secure financial transactions (UPI and digital banking).
- Legal Remedies & Evidentiary Protocols: Statutory provisions governing cyber offenses, preservation of digital evidence, and formal reporting mechanisms via institutional and statutory portals.
Outcomes
The interactive forum enhanced students' understanding of cyber jurisprudence, procedural remedies, and risk mitigation. The session effectively aligned theoretical legal knowledge with practical cyber safety practices, contributing to institutional goals of fostering digitally responsible citizens.
