International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on May 12th to honor the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. It is a day dedicated to recognizing the vital role nurses play in healthcare, acknowledging their hard work, compassion, and commitment to patient care around the world.
Faculty of Nursing, Rama University celebrated International Nurses Week 2025 with great enthusiasm from May 6th to May 12th. The Faculty of Nursing organized a week full of interactive and educational activities to enhance students’ knowledge, skills, and professional identity. Highlights included the Medication Math Race, AV Aids Exhibition, a meaningful Blood Donation Drive, and the inspiring Open Mic event “Why I Am a Nurse.” Hands-on competitions like the Bandage Wrap Challenge and the Skeletal Relay Race tested clinical knowledge and teamwork. The celebration concluded on International Nurses Day with vibrant cultural events, “Nurses Got Talent,” and a Fashion Show in Nurse Attire, showcasing the pride and evolution of the nursing profession.
The Faculty of Nursing at Rama University celebrated International Nurses Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and reverence on 12th May 2025 at the prestigious Rama Auditorium. The event marked the grand finale of International Nurses Week and served as a heartfelt tribute to the tireless efforts, compassion, and professionalism of nurses. The theme for Nurses Day 2025 was highlighted and celebrated throughout the program, aligning with the spirit and values of the nursing profession.
The celebration began with the formal inauguration and lighting of the ceremonial lamp by distinguished dignitaries, including Left. Col. Dr. Siddarth Mani, Chief Medical Officer of Rama Hospital and Research Centre; Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Principal, Faculty of Nursing; Dr. Minu S.R., Vice Principal, Faculty of Nursing; and Mrs. Sarita Rai, Nursing Superintendent, Rama Hospital and Research Centre. The event was graced by Deans of various faculties, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students from different programs. Over 800 students from B.Sc Nursing, GNM, and ANM actively participated in the event, making it a grand and memorable occasion.
Following the lamp lighting ceremony, the program commenced with a soulful Ganesh Vandana, invoking divine blessings for the success of the event. Dr. Minu S.R., Vice Principal, delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting all dignitaries, faculty, and students, and setting the tone for the celebration.
The audience was then inspired by a motivational speech delivered byDr.Janardhana Amarnath B.J, Vice chancellor, Left. Col. Dr. Siddarth Mani, who emphasized the invaluable contribution of nurses to the healthcare system. This was followed by an insightful address by Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Principal, Faculty of Nursing, who elaborated on the importance of International Nurses Day and highlighted the official theme for 2025, encouraging students to embody the values of compassion, leadership, and excellence in their professional journey.
An overview of the International Nurses Week celebrations was presented by Prof. S. Sumiya, who gave a comprehensive report on the various academic, clinical, and cultural events conducted throughout the week. Her presentation celebrated the creativity, teamwork, and dedication displayed by the students during the weeklong activities.
The celebration continued with the prize distribution ceremony, where trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners of multiple competitions held during the Nurses Week. The “Nurses Got Talent” competition showcased the artistic and creative side of nursing students, while the Fashion Show on Nursing Attire creatively depicted the evolution and diverse roles of nurses in healthcare. These performances not only entertained but also deepened appreciation for the nursing profession.
The celebration was further uplifted by a series of vibrant cultural performances, including traditional and contemporary dance routines, group songs, skits, and a special tribute performance honoring nurses. These programs added color and joy to the event, reflecting the unity, creativity, and spirit of the nursing student community.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and organizing teams for their contribution and active participation in making the event a grand success. The program ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, uniting everyone in a moment of national pride and professional honor.
