World Malaria Day is observed every year on 25th April to raise awareness about malaria prevention, early diagnosis, and effective treatment. This significant day highlights global efforts to control and eliminate malaria while encouraging individuals and communities to actively participate in preventing mosquito breeding and protecting themselves from mosquito bites. The theme of World Malaria Day reminds us that malaria elimination is achievable through timely action, community involvement, and strong healthcare systems. Thus, it serves as a powerful platform to educate society and strengthen the collective commitment toward building a malaria-free world.
Marking this important occasion, the Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, organized a Poster Making Competition for the 1st Year GNM and 1st Year ANM students. The programme commenced at 10:00 AM with great enthusiasm and active participation from the students. The event was graciously initiated in the presence of Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Dean cum Principal, Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Minu S R, Vice Principal, Faculty of Nursing along with all Heads of Departments and faculty members, who encouraged the students to express their ideas creatively.
The students participated wholeheartedly and showcased remarkable creativity, knowledge, and awareness through their posters. The themes illustrated in the posters included mosquito breeding prevention, use of mosquito nets, environmental cleanliness, identification of malaria symptoms, and the importance of community awareness. Each poster reflected strong messages conveyed through vibrant drawings, impactful slogans, and informative content, demonstrating the students’ understanding of malaria prevention and control.
The posters were carefully evaluated by Dr. Jasmi Johnson and Dr. Minu S R based on creativity, relevance to the theme, clarity of message, presentation, and innovation. The judges highly appreciated the dedication and efforts of the students, acknowledging their ability to spread awareness effectively through visual communication.
After thorough evaluation, the winners were announced and felicitated. The first prize winners were awarded with a memento, medals, and certificates, recognizing their outstanding performance. In addition, all participants were presented with certificates of participation, which served as a token of encouragement and appreciation for their enthusiastic involvement.
The programme concluded on a positive and inspiring note, emphasizing that malaria can be prevented and eliminated through awareness, personal protection, and active community participation. The event not only enhanced the knowledge of students but also instilled a sense of responsibility toward public health.
