The Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, Kanpur, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, successfully organized a Vishesh Jansampark Evam Jan-Jagrukta Karyakram 2026 on 10 June 2026 at Kukaradev. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting community awareness regarding cleanliness, public health services, government health schemes, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices.
The programme was organized under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Dean-cum-Principal, Faculty of Nursing, and was coordinated by Mohsin Kamal Associate Professor Community Health Nursing Department. Faculty members of the Faculty of Nursing actively supported and supervised the various activities conducted by the nursing students. The event was further strengthened by the presence and encouragement of the village Pradhan, Mr. Vidhya Sagar Kushwaha, who motivated community members to participate actively in the awareness programme.
The event commenced at 10:00 AM with a community awareness rally aimed at educating residents about sanitation, personal hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and the importance of maintaining a healthy living environment. Approximately 100 nursing students enthusiastically participated in the rally, interacting with community members and encouraging their involvement in health-promoting initiatives.
A major highlight of the programme was a role-play presentation performed by the students. The presentation effectively showcased various government health schemes and programmes, emphasizing their benefits and guiding the community on how to access healthcare services. Through this engaging activity, villagers gained valuable information regarding available health resources and government-supported healthcare facilities.
In addition, individual by door to door approach and group health education sessions were conducted throughout the village. These sessions focused on topics such as cleanliness, personal hygiene, disease prevention, healthy lifestyle practices, and appropriate health-seeking behaviour. The programme successfully reached and benefited approximately 85 community participants.
To further enhance the awareness, informational pamphlets were distributed among community members. The pamphlets provided details regarding healthcare facilities, available government health benefits, and the procedures for accessing various health services.
The programme achieved significant outcomes by increasing awareness regarding cleanliness and sanitation, improving knowledge about government health schemes and public health programmes, and educating residents about healthcare service access points. It also encouraged active community participation in health promotion activities and fostered a greater sense of responsibility toward maintaining personal and environmental health.
The initiative successfully strengthened the bond between Rama University and the local community while fostering social responsibility, leadership, and community engagement among nursing students. The enthusiastic participation of local residents and the valuable support of the village Pradhan contributed greatly to the success of the programme.
Overall, the Vishesh Jansampark Evam Jan-Jagrukta Karyakram 2026 successfully achieved its objectives of promoting health awareness, encouraging healthy practices, and empowering the community with knowledge about available health services and government welfare schemes. Such outreach activities reflect Rama University's continued commitment to community development, public health promotion, and social responsibility.
