Program Overview
On the occasion of World Malaria Day, the Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, proudly organized a Community Extension Outreach Programme at Ramnagar, Mandhana. With this year’s inspiring theme, “Malaria Ends with Us,” the event was dedicated to fostering community awareness, strengthening health education, and mobilizing collective efforts to fight malaria at the grassroots level.
Inaugural Ceremony
The programme commenced with a formal inauguration led by Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Principal, Faculty of Nursing. She was joined by Mr. Aslam Abbas, Head of the Community Health Nursing Department, along with faculty members and Nursing students.
In her welcome address, Dr. Johnson emphasized the power of community collaboration in eliminating preventable diseases like malaria and the importance of empowering future nurses to lead these changes.
Event Highlights
- Nukkad natak on Malaria Awareness
The highlight of the event was an engaging Nukkad Natak performed by the 1st and 2nd-year GNM students, which portrayed:
- The signs and symptoms of Malaria
- Modes of transmission
- Effective prevention strategies
- Available treatments
- This interactive performance aimed to debunk common myths, promote timely treatment, and highlight the need for personal and environmental hygiene.
- Health Education Session
Following the role play, a comprehensive health talk was delivered by faculty and students focusing on:
- Malaria prevention methods
- Safe hygiene practices
- Utilizing local health facilities for early diagnosis and treatment
Visual aids and real-life examples were used to keep the session engaging and relatable for the audience.
- Community Interaction and Q&A
Community members were encouraged to participate actively through a dedicated question-and-answer session. Their queries on malaria and general health concerns were addressed with compassion and clarity by the students and faculty, ensuring everyone left better informed and more empowered.
Community Participation & Feedback
The programme was well-received by the local community, with 78 residents from Ram Nagar attending. Their feedback reflected a deep appreciation for the awareness brought to their village, especially the effort made by nursing students to connect with them directly and meaningfully.
Conclusion
The World Malaria Day Outreach Programme was a resounding success, not only in promoting health awareness but also in showcasing the dedication of nursing students as catalysts for change. By embracing the theme “Reinvest, Re imagine, Reignite,” the Faculty of Nursing reaffirmed its commitment to building healthier communities through education, compassion, and collaboration.
