Faculty of Nursing Organizes One-Day Workshop on Personality Development and Communication Skills

The Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, organized a One-Day Workshop on “Personality Development & Communication Skills” as a part of orientation program at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Nursing, with the aim of helping newly joined students develop self-awareness, confidence, effective communication, emotional understanding, interpersonal skills, and positive personality traits. The workshop was designed to provide students with an interactive platform to understand themselves better and develop essential personal and professional skills required for their academic and future professional journey.
The programme commenced with the gathering of the guests, followed by the Ceremonial Lamp Lighting, then proceeded with the Presidential Address by Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Dean-cum-Principal, Faculty of Nursing. She addressed the gathering and shared her valuable guidance and words of encouragement with the newly joined students, emphasizing the importance of personal growth and development in the nursing profession.
This was followed by an Expert Session by Dr. Ganesh Shankar, MD (Psychiatry). The session provided students with valuable insights related to mental well-being, personality, behaviour, and personal development. Dr. Ganesh Shankar, Director of Midoe Mind Care, Kanpur and Ex-Associate Professor, GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, brought his professional expertise and experience to the session. Following the expert session, Dr. Ganesh Shankar was felicitated by Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Dean-cum-Principal, Faculty of Nursing, as a token of respect and gratitude for his valuable contribution to the programme.
The programme then moved towards the Interactive Personality Development Workshop conducted by Falak Parvez, Licensed Clinical Psychologist. The session focused on engaging students in understanding different aspects of their personality and encouraged them to actively participate in the learning process.
The interactive session was followed by Interactive Workshop and Worksheet-Based Activities, which provided students with an opportunity for experiential learning and self-reflection. Three activities were conducted: “The Human Meter – Where Are You Today?”, “The Emotion Auction,” and “The Personality Portfolio.” These activities encouraged students to explore their present state, emotions, personal qualities, strengths, and aspects of their personality in an engaging manner.
The workshop continued with a Reflection and Sharing Feedback Session, where students were given an opportunity to share their experiences and concluded with the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, resource persons, faculty members, organizers, and students for their valuable contribution and enthusiastic participation in the successful conduct of the workshop.
Overall, the workshop provided the newly joined nursing students with a meaningful, interactive, and experiential learning opportunity to understand personality development and communication skills. The programme successfully encouraged students to develop greater self-awareness, confidence, emotional understanding, communication abilities, and a positive approach towards their personal and professional development.
