Field Trip Report: Exploring Addiction Recovery at Krishna Ganga Memorial Hospital

A two-day educational excursion was organized by the Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, for B.Sc. Nursing 5th - semester students to Krishna Ganga Memorial Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, aimed at gaining insights into addiction treatment methodologies and services.
Kanpur, UP, April 8th & 9th, 2024 - The visit commenced at 9:30 am from Rama University with 94 enthusiastic students. Krishna Ganga Memorial Hospital, located in Janta Nagar, Kanpur, has been providing comprehensive care and treatment for drug addiction since its establishment in 2016. With a capacity of 15 beds, the centre adopts a holistic approach integrating medical interventions, counselling, and therapy to aid in recovery and social reintegration.
During the visit, students were immersed in the centre’s activities, including group therapy sessions, yoga, and art therapy. Dr. Gaurav, a clinical psychologist, provided an insightful lecture on substance abuse and drug de-addiction. Students actively participated in group therapy, observed counselling sessions, and engaged with patients to grasp their experiences first hand. They noted the significance of personalized treatment plans and the pivotal role of familial support in the recovery journey.
The serene environment coupled with compassionate staff, comprising clinical psychologists, counsellors, and medical professionals, left a lasting impression on the students. Expressing gratitude, both students and faculty extended their heartfelt thanks to the team at Krishna Ganga Memorial Hospital for their invaluable support throughout the visit.
