Free Dental Health Camp Promotes Oral Hygiene, Periodontal Health, Awareness, and Preventive Care Practices

Date Activity: Free Dental Health Camp conducted on 18 September 2026 in collaboration with JJSS.
As part of the collaborative initiative under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Periodontology, Rama Dental College, Hospital & Research Centre and Jan Jagriti Seva Samiti (JJSS), represented by Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Secretary, JJSS, a Free Dental Health Camp was successfully organized on 18 September 2026 at Dispensary, HBTU, Kanpur. The primary objective of this outreach program was to promote awareness and early detection of oral and periodontal diseases among students and staff members, while also encouraging the adoption of preventive oral health practices among them.
- Periodontal Screening and Diagnosis: A team from the Department of Periodontology conducted oral and periodontal examinations of the participants to check their gum and oral health and identify any other oral problems.
- Preventive Counseling and Personalized Advice: Participants were given simple and individual advice on proper brushing and oral hygiene, risk factors for gum diseases, preventive care, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.
- Oral Health Awareness and Education Session: An oral health awareness session was conducted for students and staff to explain the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and healthy gums. The session was moderated by Dr. Shruti Gupta, Professor, Department of Periodontology, who discussed the importance of periodontal health and ways to promote better oral health in the community.
Impact and Benefits: The dental health camp received a good response, with approximately 345 students and staff members benefiting from the services provided. The camp offered basic dental screening and preventive care and also helped increase awareness about maintaining good oral health.
Outcome: The collaborative activity under the MOU reflects the joint efforts of Rama University and Jan Jagriti Seva Samiti (JJSS) to provide dental healthcare services and oral health education to the community. The programme helped improve awareness and knowledge about oral and periodontal health and highlighted the importance of regular dental check-ups and proper oral hygiene.
