The third day of World Breastfeeding Week 2025 at theFaculty of Nursing, Rama University, Kanpur, was a vibrant and enriching experience, filled with creativity, learning, and clinical excellence. The day was dedicated to a Model Presentation Competition and Role Play in a Hospital Setting, thoughtfully designed to deepen students’ understanding of maternal and infant care, especially the promotion and support of breastfeeding within healthcare environments.
The event commenced with a Role Play sessionat 10am at Rama Hospital& Research Center, that transported the audience into realistic hospital scenarios. Students skillfully enacted clinical situations involving breastfeeding counseling, patient education, postnatal support, and inter-professional collaboration. These enactments offered participants a valuable opportunity to practice patient-centered communication, clinical decision-making, and teamwork—key competencies for future nursing professionals. Faculty members praised the students for their confidence, authenticity, and ability to portray critical clinical situations with professionalism and empathy.
The second half of the event featured an impressive Model Presentation Competition at 2:30pm, where students exhibited a wide range of visually engaging and conceptually rich models focused on breastfeeding practices. Each presentation reflected a strong blend of theoretical insight and practical relevance. Participants demonstrated commendable clarity in explaining their models, highlighting aspects such as breastfeeding techniques, lactation physiology, mother-infant bonding, and community awareness. The models were judged on creativity, scientific accuracy, thematic relevance, and the students’ presentation skills.
The activities of the day beautifully bridged classroom learning with clinical application, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based practice and compassionate care in nursing. The event concluded with words of encouragement and constructive feedback from faculty and all participants, that celebrating their enthusiasm and commitment to maternal and child health.
