Day 3 of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) 2025 at Rama University, Kanpur commenced with renewed spirit, academic enthusiasm, and professional growth. The focus of the day was on the vital theme “Novel Integrative Designs in Mixed Methods Research & Quality-Based Dissemination of Research.” The sessions aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of innovative research methodologies while also emphasizing the significance of responsible and impactful dissemination of research outcomes.
The afternoon session began with a warm and insightful welcome address delivered by Prof. Vipin A, Head of Department, Child Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Rama University. He highlighted the importance of research innovation in advancing both academic and industrial health outcomes.
Following this, a formal introduction of the keynote speaker was gracefully presented by Associate Professor Aslam Abbas, Head of Department, Community Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Rama University.
The first technical session was conducted by Dr. Manoranjitham Sathiyaseelan, Professor in Psychiatric Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore. Her session focused on “Novel Integrative Designs in Mixed Methods Research.” Madam explained the importance of combining qualitative and quantitative approaches to provide deeper insights, strengthen validity, and enhance the applicability of research findings.
Dr. Manoranjitham Sathiyaseelan, in her session on Novel Integrative Designs in Mixed Methods Research, explained how various sampling strategies can be effectively applied to strengthen research outcomes. She emphasized the use of data triangulation techniques to enhance the reliability and validity of findings, ensuring a more holistic perspective. Further, she illustrated the practical applications of mixed methods research in health sciences and nursing, demonstrating how the integration of qualitative and quantitative approaches leads to more comprehensive and meaningful results.
Her session provided participants with comprehensive knowledge on how integrative designs help generate meaningful outcomes that bridge academic rigor with real-world applicability.
The second session began with the introduction of the resource person by Associate Professor Mohsin Kamal, Department of Community Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Rama University.
The session was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Vaishali Dhingra, Dean – IQAC, Rama University, on “Quality-Based Dissemination of Research.” She emphasized that the true impact of research lies in its responsible communication to the right academic and industrial platforms.
Prof. (Dr.) Vaishali Dhingra emphasized that the quality of research is defined not only by its findings but also by how it is shared with the academic community. She highlighted the importance of publishing in peer-reviewed and indexed journals to ensure credibility and global recognition, while cautioning against predatory journals that compromise academic integrity. She also stressed the need to enhance the readability and visibility of research articles so they can reach wider audiences effectively. Further, she underlined the role of adhering to ethical peer-review practices in strengthening scholarly standards. Finally, she pointed out that conference presentations and academic networking serve as powerful platforms for increasing the reach, impact, and collaboration opportunities of research work.
The session was highly interactive, with participants engaging in discussions on journal selection, citation metrics, funding opportunities, and ways to improve research visibility.
The third day of FDP concluded with the realization that quality in research does not end with its execution but extends to its responsible and effective dissemination. Both sessions—on innovative integrative research designs and quality-based dissemination—offered valuable insights that will enable participants to strengthen their research methodologies while ensuring greater academic and industrial impact.
