International Nurses Week Day One Celebrated with Elocution Competition Highlighting Nursing Excellence and Leadership

The Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, organized the International Nurses Week Celebration 2026 on 11th and 12th May 2026 with great enthusiasm and spirit to recognize and honor the remarkable contribution of nurses in healthcare services. International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on 12th May to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The celebration emphasizes the dedication, compassion, humanity, and professional commitment of nurses toward patient care and community wellbeing. The theme of this year’s celebration, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” reflected the significant role of nurses in strengthening healthcare systems and improving the quality of life of individuals and communities.
As part of the celebration, Day 1 featured an Elocution Competition conducted at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Nursing, Rama University. The program began with a warm welcome speech followed by the introduction of the respected jury members. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Dean cum Principal, Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Minu S R, Vice Principal, along with Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students who actively participated in the event.
The competition was evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges including Dr. Renu Verma, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Engineering, Rama University; Dr. Nidhi Agrawal, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Rama University; and Dr. Komal Mishra, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Ayurveda, Rama University. Their presence and valuable observations encouraged the students and added significance to the event.
The elocution competition provided a valuable platform for nursing students to express their thoughts, ideas, and perspectives on important nursing-related themes associated with healthcare, humanity, ethics, professional responsibilities, gender equality, and the contribution of nurses toward society and nation building. The participants delivered their speeches with confidence, enthusiasm, and excellent communication skills, highlighting the importance of the nursing profession in modern healthcare settings. The audience appreciated the efforts and performances of the students, which created an atmosphere of motivation, learning, and professional pride.
The judges carefully evaluated the speeches based on presentation skills, confidence, content organization, clarity, and overall performance. The event witnessed active involvement and encouragement from faculty members and students, making the program highly engaging and successful. The winners of the competition will be announced during the International Nurses Day celebration on 12th May 2026.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, organizers, judges, faculty members, and students for their support and participation in making the first day of the International Nurses Week Celebration a grand success.
