JAGRITI Legal Awareness Program on Crime Against Women at Rama University

The Faculty of Juridical Sciences, Rama University, organized a legal awareness program titled “JAGRITI – An Initiative for Legal Awareness” on the theme Crime Against Women on 06th December 2025 at 11:30 AM in Raman & Kalpana Hostel, Rama University under the supervision of Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall (Dean, FJS). The session aimed at sensitizing students and hostel residents about increasing concerns related to crimes against women. The program was part of the University’s ongoing commitment to extend free legal aid and to promote awareness regarding women's safety, legal rights, and available legal remedies.
- To educate participants about various forms of crimes committed against women.
- To create awareness about the legal rights and protections available under Indian law.
- To provide free legal assistance to individuals seeking legal guidance.
- To encourage students to become active stakeholders in promoting gender justice and equality.
Program Highlights
- The event commenced with a warm welcome by the organizing team at Rama Hostel.
- A brief introduction was given explaining the purpose and significance of organizing legal awareness programs.
- Expert student speakers emphasized key themes, including:
- Types of crimes against women: domestic violence, sexual harassment, cybercrimes, and trafficking.
- Relevant laws: BNS provisions, POCSO Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, and the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
- The critical role of legal aid in ensuring justice and providing timely assistance to women.
- Real-life case scenarios, preventive strategies, and self-protection measures were discussed in detail.
- A Free Legal Aid Desk was also set up to provide on-the-spot legal guidance to participants.

- Hostel Residents: 35 female + 30 male = 65 students
- Legal Aid Clinic Volunteers
