Building a Greener Campus: Law Students Drive Environmental Awareness Initiative
The Law Students Club at Rama University successfully organized an Expert Talk on Green Campus Awareness followed by an Oath Ceremony on Clean Campus on 12 September 2025, aimed at fostering awareness about sustainable practices within the university community. The event took place in the esteemed FJS Seminar Hall and witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students alike.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, Dean of the Faculty of Juridical Sciences (FJS). He emphasized the importance of eco-conscious behavior among students and faculty, and the long-term benefits of maintaining a green and clean campus environment.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Ashish Katiya, District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Hamirpur. As the event’s chief guest and expert speaker, Mr. Katiya elaborated on the vital role of green initiatives in combating climate change, conserving biodiversity, and enhancing the overall learning environment. He also shared practical insights on tree plantation, waste management, and student involvement in sustainability efforts.
The Registrar of Rama University, Mr. Prabhat Ranjan, addressed the gathering and commended the efforts of the Law Students Club in promoting environmental responsibility. He urged all departments to adopt similar initiatives and integrate sustainable practices into their academic and administrative frameworks. Ms. Riddhi Tripathi, Head of Department (Law), further promoted the Green Campus Initiative, underlining the steps already taken by the department such as reduced paper usage, sapling drives, and awareness campaigns. She encouraged students to become active contributors to the university’s sustainability goals. Mr. Rahul Singh, Convenor of the Free Legal Aid Club and the program organizer, expressed his gratitude to all guests and participants. He highlighted the role of law students in leading social change and environmental justice through both academic and field initiatives.
Oath Ceremony:
A Clean Campus Oath was administered to all attendees, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining cleanliness, avoiding plastic usage, planting trees, and spreading awareness in their communities.
