Mushroom Production can make Indian farmers self-sufficient

The Faculty of Agriculture and Allied Sciences at Rama University trains farmers, students, and youth through the Mushroom Production Technical Project. Furthermore, the department periodically undertakes the task of sensitizing farmers through farmer seminars, farmers’ fairs and entrepreneurship training under the guidance of Dr. Shiv Pratap Singh, Dean- Faculty of Agriculture and Allied Sciences.
Dr. Udai Bhan Singh, Principal Investigator of Mushroom Cultivation and Training Unit, described mushroom cultivation as a non-farm and easy way for farmers to boost their income and have hassle-free farming experience. Rama University provides technical training on cultivation of various varieties of mushrooms such as oysters, buttons, and milky mushrooms to students, youth, and farmers throughout the year.
Providing nutritious food to all is a challenge in a nation like India, in which case mushroom production can prove to be a boon. It is the main source of high protein and vitamins which have the power to magnify the income of the farmers and also boost the overall health of the society and nation. The Mushroom Cultivation and Training Unit run by the Faculty of Agriculture and Allied Sciences of Rama University is indeed making a significant contribution in creating a healthy and prosperous society and nation.
