Orientation Programme for Allied Health Sciences Students Welcoming Future Healthcare Professionals

The Orientation Programme was organized to welcome the new students of BPT - Bachelor of Physiotherapy, BMLS - Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science, and BOPTO - Bachelor of Optometry. The aim was to introduce them to the academic system, professional ethics, course structure, and campus culture .

Ganesh Vandana
The programme commenced with a Ganesh Vandana performed by students. It created a positive and auspicious start to the new academic session.
Welcome Speech by HOD
Dr. Nidhi Agrawal, HOD, delivered the welcome speech. She congratulated the students on securing admission to healthcare professional courses. She emphasized the values of discipline, dedication, empathy, and teamwork. She also briefed parents and students about the department’s mission and facilities.
Honorable Chief Guest Speech
The Honorable Chief Guest Dr. R Sujata, Principal of Rama Medical College& Research center, Rama University addressed the students and highlighted the growing importance of allied health professionals in modern health care delivery. She encouraged students to develop strong clinical knowledge, practical skills, communication abilities, professional ethics, and compassion toward patients.
Dr. Ruchika, HOD of Ophthalmology addressed the gathering. The speech focused on the importance of allied health professionals in the healthcare system, emerging career opportunities, and the need for lifelong learning. Students were motivated to uphold professionalism and contribute to society.

Scope of Courses
A detailed session on the scope of course was conducted:
BPT: Hospital rehabilitation, sports injury, neuro & pediatric physiotherapy, private practice
BMLS: Diagnostic labs, research, hospital labs, quality control
BOPTO: Clinical optometry, low vision care, contact lenses, community eye care
Students were guided about higher studies, govt jobs, and entrepreneurship in each field.
Skit performance:
As part of the Orientation Programme for Allied and Health Care Sciences, a skit performance on career awareness was organized for the newly admitted students. The objective of the skit was to create awareness among students about the various career opportunities, professional responsibilities, and future scope available in the Allied and Health Care Sciences field.
Introduction of Faculties and Subjects
All faculties were introduced department-wise. Faculty members gave a brief overview of subjects for Semester 1 including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Optics, etc., and explained their role in clinical practice.
Examination & SEP:- The examination system, internal assessments, practical exams, and university rules explained by the faculty
Students were also introduced to SEP - Student Evaluation Programme, which includes regular class tests, assignments, OSCE, and skill-based evaluations to ensure continuous learning.
Discipline & Ragging Ban University Policy
Students were informed about campus discipline, attendance, dress code, and hospital conduct
It was strictly mentioned that our university has a Ragging Ban policy. Any form of ragging will lead to strict disciplinary action as per university and UGC guidelines. A safe and ragging-free environment was assured to all students and parents.
Alumni Talk by Dr. Ahmed
The session included an Alumni Talk by Dr. Ahmed, a proud alumnus of the institute. He shared his journey, challenges during the course, and tips for academic and clinical success. He spoke about job opportunities after BPT/BMLS/BOPTO and encouraged students to participate in workshops, internships, and research. The talk was highly interactive and inspiring.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr.nidhi Agarwal
Conclusion:-
The Orientation Programme helped new students of BPT, BMLS, and BOPTO to understand the academic structure, professional expectations, and support systems available in the university. It set a motivating and disciplined tone for the start of their professional journey.
