The Department of Child Health Nursing, Rama University organized a one-day workshop on “Paediatric Life Support” on 17th November 2025, in collaboration with the Research Foundation of India. The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and clinical competency of nursing students in recognizing paediatric emergencies and performing essential life-saving interventions. The program brought together experts, faculty, and students for a comprehensive learning experience blending theory and hands-on demonstration.
The program began at 10:45 AM, with Mrs. Veena Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Child Health Nursing, serving as the Master of Ceremony (MC). She warmly welcomed all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and guests. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Principal, Faculty of Nursing, who officially inaugurated the workshop. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the importance of prompt and skilled intervention during pediatric emergencies. Following this, Prof. Dr. Minu S. R, Vice-Principal, addressed the students and emphasized the need for continuous skill development for effective clinical practice. All Heads of Departments from various specialties were also present, adding significance and support to the occasion.
After the inauguration, Prof. Vipin A, Head of the Department of Child Health Nursing, introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, H.O.D of CHN Govt college of Nursing a distinguished expert in pediatric nursing. Prof. Vipin highlighted Dr. Yadav’s rich experience, academic contributions, and commitment to improving pediatric health outcomes. His introduction set the tone for an insightful technical session.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Yadav delivered a comprehensive and engaging session on Pediatric Life Support, covering critical topics such as recognition of respiratory and cardiac emergencies in children, initial assessment techniques, pediatric Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols, airway management, and emergency response coordination. His use of real-life clinical examples and interactive discussions helped students relate theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. The session strengthened students’ understanding of the role of timely intervention and effective teamwork in saving young lives.
Following the lunch break, a hands-on return demonstration session was conducted from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This practical component was facilitated by skilled demonstrators Ms. Dibya yadav, Ms. Astha, and Ms. Madhuri. Students practiced essential life support skills using manikins, including chest compressions, rescue breathing, pediatric airway positioning, and stepwise emergency assessment. The demonstrators provided individual guidance, clarified doubts, and ensured that each student could perform the procedures correctly and confidently.
The workshop concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Neelam Sahu, Lecturer in the Department of Child Health Nursing. She expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, principal, vice-principal, HODs, faculty members, demonstrators, and students for contributing to the success of the program. She also appreciated the collaboration with the Research Foundation of India for enhancing the academic value of the event.
Toward the end of the session, students shared valuable feedback, expressing that the workshop significantly improved their confidence and understanding of pediatric emergency care. They conveyed that the blend of theoretical instruction and practical demonstration made the learning experience highly effective. The program came to a close at 4:00 PM with the National Anthem, marking the successful completion of an informative and impactful academic event.
