Rama Ayurvedic Medical College Celebrates International Yoga Day 2026 with Mass Yoga Demonstration and Wellness Activities

Introduction
In observance of the 12th International Yoga Day 2026, Rama Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital (RAMCH), Rama University, organized a series of Yoga promotion and wellness activities from May 2026 culminating in a Mass Yoga Demonstration on 21 June 2026 at the Rama University Auditorium. The celebrations were conducted with the objective of promoting the importance of Yoga in maintaining physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being among students, faculty members, staff, and the community.
Pre-International Yoga Day Activities (May–June 2026)
As part of the pre-International Yoga Day campaign, the Department of Swasthavritta & Yoga conducted several outreach and wellness initiatives across the university and hospital.
- Free Yoga Classes for BAMS Students
Regular free Yoga classes were conducted for all BAMS students of the institution. Approximately 500 BAMS students participated in these sessions through batch-wise training programs conducted on alternate days.
The sessions included:
- Yogic exercises and stretching practices
- Asanas
- Pranayama
- Meditation
- Relaxation techniques
- Lifestyle and wellness counselling
- Yoga Practical Training for Second Professional BAMS Students
Structured Yoga practical classes were conducted for approximately 200 Second Professional BAMS students as part of the academic curriculum.
The training included:
- Fundamentals of Yoga
- Asanas
- Pranayama
- Meditation
- Therapeutic applications of Yoga
A total of 8 hours of practical Yoga training per week was provided as per the prescribed curriculum.
- Voluntary Participation of MBBS Students
The Yoga initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 50 MBBS students who voluntarily enrolled and regularly attended the Yoga sessions.
- Free Yoga Sessions for Rama University Community
Daily Yoga sessions were organized for faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students from various faculties of Rama University.
More than 100 participants from different faculties voluntarily enrolled and actively participated in these wellness programs conducted daily between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM under the guidance of trained Yoga instructors.
- Yoga-Based Patient Care Services
Rama Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital continued to provide Yoga-based therapeutic interventions to patients attending the OPD and IPD.
The services included:
- Therapeutic Asanas
- Pranayama
- Meditation
- Relaxation techniques
On an average, 10–20 patients per month benefited from these Yoga-based healthcare interventions.
International Yoga Day Celebration – 21 June 2026
The 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 21 June 2026 from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM at the Rama University Auditorium.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Principal and faculty members of Rama Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital.
Following the inauguration, the gathering was addressed by Dr. Guruprasad K., Principal, Rama Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital and Head, Department of Swasthavritta, who delivered an enlightening speech highlighting the significance of Yoga in daily life, its role in preventive healthcare, stress management, and holistic well-being.
Thereafter, Mr. Neeraj, Yoga Trainer, conducted the Mass Yoga Demonstration session in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol.

The Yoga session concluded with Dhyana (Meditation), enabling participants to experience mental calmness, relaxation, and inner awareness.
Participation
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 300 students, faculty members, staff, and participants from various departments and faculties of Rama University.
The mass Yoga demonstration reflected the collective commitment of the university community towards adopting Yoga as a way of life and promoting health, harmony, and wellness.
Overall Impact of the Yoga Day Initiative
The Yoga promotion and outreach activities conducted from May 2026 to June 2026 directly benefited:
- 500 BAMS Students through regular Yoga classes
- 200 Second Professional BAMS Students through structured practical training
- 50 MBBS Students through voluntary participation
- 100+ Faculty Members, Staff, and Students from other faculties of Rama University
- 10–20 OPD/IPD Patients per month through Yoga-based therapeutic care
- 300 Participants during the International Yoga Day Mass Yoga Demonstration
