Rama Medical College Launches Mass Campaign for Basic Life Support Training
04 May 2024
Rama Medical College has initiated a ground-breaking mass campaign aimed at Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training. With an alarming statistic of approximately 462 daily fatalities due to road accidents in India, this initiative seeks to equip individuals with life-saving skills, potentially rescuing 50 to 60 lives each day. The program, conducted in collaboration with the Emergency Medicine Department, educates participants on fundamental BLS techniques, including operating automated external defibrillators (AEDs), performing CPR, and administering first aid.
The inaugural workshop, held on February 4th, 2024, at Rama University, witnessed over 200 participants receiving hands-on CPR training on mannequins. Under the guidance of HOD Dr. Manisha Nigam, and with esteemed Guest Speaker Dr. G.S. Basra, Group Captain of 7-Air Force, the event was graced by the presence of prominent figures including Vice Chancellor Dr. P.K. Singh and Principal Col. Dr. B.K. Prasad.
Addressing the pressing need for community engagement, the workshop extended its training to school students, police guards, drivers, and paramedical staff. Dr. Manisha Nigam highlighted Rama Medical College's Emergency Department's distinction as the district's first medical college accredited by the National Medical Commission for three PG seats in Emergency Medicine.
The event, inaugurated amidst the glow of lamp lightening, underscored the commitment of Rama Medical College to fostering a culture of safety and preparedness within communities. With the program led by Dr. Shailja and Dr. Omama, the initiative marks a significant step towards empowering individuals to become first responders in critical situations.
