Rama University Hosts ICPOM 2026 Advancing Healthcare Education Research Innovation and Global Academic Collaboration Excellence

3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFRENCE ON PHYSIOTHERAPY, OPTOMETRY & MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCES (ICPOM) 2026
The Faculty of Allied & Healthcare Sciences at Rama University successfully organized the 3rd International Conference on Physiotherapy, Optometry & Medical Laboratory Sciences (ICPOM), 2026, along with an online poster presentation session and two hands on workshop for Bachelor of Optometry (B.opto) students under the theme “Excellence, Regulation and Recognition of Allied Health Professionals under the New NCAHP Framework.” The event aimed to enhance knowledge, promote academic interaction, and provide a platform for students and professionals to exchange ideas in the field of healthcare sciences.
The program commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Brijendra Nigam, Principal & Dean (FAHS), followed by Dr. Nidhi Agrawal (HOD), who encouraged students to actively participate in academic activities and highlighted the importance of such events in overall professional development. The inaugural ceremony included the traditional lamp lighting and Ganesh Vandana, followed by felicitation of chief guests and dignitaries.
Dr. Kamal Pant (Chairperson, NCAHP UP Council, Lucknow) addressed the audience on the importance of healthcare research, innovation, and modern education systems. He motivated students to develop practical skills, scientific thinking, and leadership qualities for future healthcare professions.
He highlighted:

A major highlight was the online expert lecture delivered by Dr. Fakhruddin Barodawala, who was invited as an international speaker from Phillipines. Dr. Fakhruddin is a Research Professor at School of Optometry, Centro Escolar University, Phillipines.
In his keynote session, he delivered an insightful talk on how Optometry students can He explained recent developments such as:

- Daily disposable lenses
- Toric lenses for astigmatism
- Multifocal lenses
- Smart contact lens technology
- Improved oxygen permeability and comfort

Dr. Sunil Kumar Dixit delivered a highly interesting lecture on Neuro-Visual Integration.
He explained how eyes and brain work together for:

He also described how Vision Therapy helps improve eye-brain communication in children and adults.

WORKSHOP ON VISION THREAPY:-
A Vision Therapy Workshop was successfully organized at Rama University by the Faculty of Allied and Healthcare Science on 16th April 2026. The workshop was held in the VC Building Seminar Hall from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The event aimed to spread awareness about modern eye care practices, vision therapy techniques, and hereditary retinal disorders among students and faculty members.

The program began with the welcome of guests by the university faculty and organizing committee.
Students from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) also actively participated in the workshop, adding academic value and inter-university collaboration to the event.
The workshop also included interactive demonstrations, question-answer sessions, and practical discussions. Students from both Rama University and CSJMU actively participated by asking questions related to eye disorders, treatment innovations, and career opportunities in vision sciences. The speakers motivated students to explore research and technological advancements in healthcare.
Session 1: Topic – Amblyopia
Dr. Puneet delivered an informative lecture on Amblyopia, commonly known as “lazy eye.” He explained the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and modern treatment methods of amblyopia. He also discussed the importance of early detection in children and introduced new digital vision therapy solutions developed through CureSee.
He highlighted:
- Causes of amblyopia
- Importance of eye screening in childhood
- Role of vision therapy exercises
- Use of technology in treatment
Students gained valuable knowledge about how untreated amblyopia can affect learning and quality of life.
Session 2: Topic – Hereditary Macular Degeneration
Dr. Sunil Dixit presented an expert lecture on Hereditary Macular Degeneration. He explained genetic causes of macular disorders, symptoms, diagnosis methods, and recent treatment advancements.

WORKSHOP ON OCULAR PROSTHETIC :-
Topic: Ocular Prosthetic Eye Workshop
The Faculty of Allied and Healthcare Science, Rama University, successfully organized a workshop on the topic Ocular Prosthetic Eye in the Auditorium on 17th April 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The main objective of the workshop was to provide students with knowledge regarding ocular prosthesis, patient rehabilitation, and modern techniques used in artificial eye fabrication.

Introduction of Speaker
The keynote speaker of the workshop was Dr. Subrato Roy, an experienced expert in the field of ocular prosthetics. He was warmly welcomed by the organizers and introduced to the audience with appreciation for his professional achievements and expertise.
Main Topic Explanation: Ocular Prosthetic Eye
Dr. Subrato Roy explained that an ocular prosthetic eye is an artificial eye used for patients who have lost one eye due to trauma, disease, infection, cancer, or congenital defects. It helps restore facial symmetry and improves the confidence of patients.
He clarified that although the prosthetic eye cannot restore eyesight, it plays an important role in cosmetic appearance and psychological recovery.
Types of Ocular Prosthesis
The speaker discussed the main types of ocular prosthesis:
- Stock Prosthetic Eye – Pre-manufactured artificial eyes available in common sizes.
- Custom-Made Prosthetic Eye – Individually designed according to the patient’s socket shape, size, and eye color for a natural look and better comfort.
He emphasized that custom-made prostheses provide superior results.
Procedure of Fabrication
Students were informed about the complete step-by-step procedure:
- Clinical examination of eye socket
- Impression making
- Wax pattern trial
- Iris and sclera shade matching
- Acrylic molding and curing
- Finishing and Polishing
- Final fitting and patient instruction
This explanation helped students understand the practical aspects of prosthetic eye preparation.

An important component of the conference was the online poster presentation session conducted at LT-3, FAHS, with participation from 30 students. The session was judged based on scientific content, innovation, clarity, and presentation skills.
