Rama University Joins Uttar Pradesh’s Mega Plantation Drive 2025-2.0 with a Green Campus Initiative

In alignment with the Uttar Pradesh Government’s ambitious Vriksharopan Maha Abhiyan 2025, Rama University, Mandhana, Kanpur, successfully organized a Mega Plantation Drive-2.0 on campus on July 9, 2025. The event was part of the state’s broader environmental mission to plant 37 crore saplings across all districts and riversides.
The drive was formally initiated by Dr. R.K. Yadav, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Indrejeet Gupta, Dean, Academics and Planning, Dr. Vaishali Dhingra, Dean, IQAC, Dr. Aneeta Yadav, Professor & Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Allied Industries, Dr. Nalini Sahu, Principal, Pharmacy, Dr. Praveen Mall, Dean, Faculty of Juridical Science, Dr. Vinay, HoD, FASAI & all teaching and non-teaching staff who emphasized the importance of tree plantation in climate resilience, ecological balance, and public participation. Faculty members, administrative members & staff, and over 300 students actively participated in the initiative.
More than 1000 saplings of indigenous, medicinal, fruit-bearing, and ornamental species were planted within various zones of the university, including Academic blocks, STP Units, Hostel surroundings, Agricultural fields and open green belts and roadside edges
The campaign adopted the meaningful theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam-2.0”, where students dedicated saplings in memory or honor of their mothers, creating a deeply emotional and personal connection to environmental care.
The event not only contributed to enhancing the university's green cover but also instilled a strong environmental ethic among participants. Rama University remains committed to nurturing ecological consciousness through regular green campus initiatives in the future.
