Speak up! Stand out! – empowering students through the art of effective communication

The Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Rama University, Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur, organized a 2-Day Interactive Workshop on Language & Communication titled “SPEAK UP! STAND OUT! – The Art of Being Heard” on 17th–18th September 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Engineering & Technology for the newly admitted students.
The workshop was designed to enhance students’ communication skills, confidence, spontaneity, clarity of expression, and public-speaking abilities through a series of practical and interactive activities. The sessions included ice-breaking activities, “Guess and Tell,” “Devil’s Advocate,” role play, group discussions, impromptu speaking, and JAM (Just A Minute) sessions. These engaging activities provided students with opportunities to move beyond theoretical learning and develop effective communication skills through active participation.
The programme also featured an insightful address by Dr. Abhay Shukla, Respected Dean and Convenor, who emphasized the significance of effective communication in students’ academic, personal, and professional development. His address encouraged students to express themselves confidently and develop the ability to communicate their ideas clearly and effectively.
The workshop was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Shikha Tiwari, Ms. Srishti Mehra, and Ms. Divyanshi Pal, under the guidance of Dr. Deeksha Ranjan, HoD, Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities. Their dedicated efforts and systematic coordination contributed significantly to the smooth and successful execution of the programme.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of Certificates of Appreciation to students in recognition of their outstanding performance, enthusiasm, and active participation throughout the two-day programme. The students expressed great happiness and pride upon receiving their certificates.
The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation, active engagement, and a renewed sense of confidence among the students, reinforcing the importance of effective communication as an essential skill for academic and professional success.
