Students Raise Awareness about Environment and Wetland Conservation on the occasion of “International Day of Biological Diversity”

The Rama University Faculty of Commerce and Management, in collaboration with WWF, organized an innovative extension and outreach event to recognize the "International Day of Biological Diversity" on May 23, 2023. The event took place at the breathtaking Harnoo Wetland in Shivrajpur block.
Enthusiastic volunteers from the National Service Scheme (NSS) actively participated in educating the local village community about the significance of wetlands, their delicate ecosystems, and the relevance of the surrounding biodiversity. The students also conducted a wetland health assessment, contributing to the conservation efforts of this precious natural habitat.
The visit was organised with great skill and enthusiasm under the direction and supervision of distinguished specialists Mr. Shivang Verma, Assistant Project Officer for River, Wetlands, and Water Policy at WWF-India, and Mr. Rajesh Bajpai, Senior Coordinator for River Basins & Climate Adaptation at WWF.
Prof. (Dr.) Vaishali Dhingra, (Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management) in her address, emphasized the importance of such activities in nurturing the holistic development of students and instilling a sense of responsibility towards the environment. By engaging in this outreach activity, the students showcased their dedication towards preserving our planet's diverse ecosystems and their commitment to becoming responsible global citizens.
The event was a resounding success, with the local community gaining valuable insights into the rich biodiversity found within wetlands. The interactive session fostered awareness and appreciation for these natural wonders, inspiring everyone present to take an active role in their protection.
