Swachhta Pakhwada Observed at Rama Dental College

Rama Dental College, Hospital and Research Center, Kanpur Observed “Swachhta Pakhwada” from 1st September – 15th September 2019
As per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development for Higher Education Institutions, a variety of initiatives were undertaken which includes ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’ for water conservation and ‘single use plastic’ to curb the overuse of harmful and toxic plastic waste.
The college constituted a ‘Jal Shakti Team’ to conduct awareness campaign in nearby village- Dhakanpurwa and Kanpur Dehat. Our students conducted door to door awareness drive for the villagers to make them aware of Rain water harvesting techniques, tips for saving water in household, water shed development and water tanks in the village were also discussed. They were also educated on harmful effects of plastics.
The students along with the respective faculties also visited a community radio station, “Waqt ki Awaz, 91.2 FM” which is run by Shramik Bharti NGO, and shared our campaign with them which will go live as a special program. It will be broadcasted in all nearby villages in a radius of 30 km, catering to around 7, 00,000 lakh population.
Faculty and students also participated in an awareness rally in Lakhanpur, Kanpur regarding ‘water conservation’ and ‘single use plastic’.
All these activities were undertaken under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Janardhana Amaranath B.J, Principal and Dr. Nidhi Pruthi Shukla, Reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry. The village awareness program was done with the co-ordination and support of NGO Shramik Bharti and Liaison officer, Mr. Subramanyam.
